hi I have bought a Peugeot 106 and am looking to putting a vw golf 1.8t engine dropped init and just wondering if anyone can give me any advise on what else I would need to change to make it still be able to corner?

Why? Its not even from the same manufacturer so nothing will work out of the box, nevermind the fact you'll need custom engine mounts, driveshafts etc

Would be cheaper to turbo a 16v engine

At a rough guess loom ecu mounts shafts Etc?
I saw on facebook the other day of a 106 I think it was with a 1.8t in it but no idea what was involved

It's possible all just down to time and money

And a vts turbo will be faster.

I understand the need to be different, but why the 1.8? Why not stick a peugeot v6 in?

engine bay isn't big enough for a v6.

I doubt a cheap 1.8t will be slower £ for £ vs a tu engine, its not cheap building a turbo engine from sn n-a lump.

The 20vT engine barely fits in a golf engine bay. It won't fit a Saxo without significant structural changes. Maybe spaceframe it? Or stick it in the back.

They can be made to fit in a Lupo, so never say never.....

150bhp ones can be had for much cheapness these days, and you'll see 200bhp with an exhaust and remap.

The 225bhp ones hold a lot more money though.

Would be an interesting conversion - but i'd imagine it would give you a whole lot of ballache in trying to get it to work at all, never mind worrying how it'll go round a corner.

Yep - straight fit, everything lines up and is compatible with eachother.

Sorry to be a debbie downer, but this stinks of "18 year olds first car, trying to make a 1.0 faster".

All credit to anyone who does it, but like craig said, it's a lot of work.

they're not that big, and the golf is quite small, but they fit a 3.2 VR in them too...

The vr6 has quite shallow banks though doesnt it?

no banks on a VR engine, single cylinder head! so much more compact than a Vee but still much chunkier than a 1.8 4 pot.

If one will fit in a metro, a saxo should accept one too. All the other fabrication work notwithstanding

not mine unfortunately but an ex rover engineer who I knew of. Pretty much the go to guy should you need any knowledge on them or the various engines, had him do some work on one of mine a few years ago.
