Hi peeps, can anyone tell me what's the maximum you can bore out a vts block, and what pistons can I use, as I have spare engine, but has end float on the crank, so I thought of going the extra mile and doing a full job on it, cheers

80 mm I have seen people go larger but it becomes more problematic. I know in the past people had fitted pistons out of a rover engine bit it was tricky with lots of machining. Custom pistons are relatively cheap these days so think that's the norm now.

80mm pistons direct off shelf --but i would not go that big --space between bores is very small to start with
79.5mm is largest i would go to --also off the shelf option
if its bigger capacity --then stroke er kit is the way --what you using it for as my boosted std stroke +bore size makes close ot 400 st fly --how much more you want ?

1mm of end float is not uncommon --and if rest of engine ok --replace thrusts --thats all

We'll, basically my vts powered mini, is having nos fitted next month, the engine in there at mo, is not to bad, it's got Newman ph3 cams, skimmed head and a piggy back dastek ecu, I know it'll shift along with the nos, but this engine has end float too, as space is tight I can't fit a turbo, or super charger , so I thought what about larger pistons! The spare head is going to be stage 2 spec.

Nitrous oxide is rather hard on engines so I would not go to mad if your planning to bore it out. One of my friends did the same setup on his mini van years ago. If its just for drag racing you can actually fit a turbo under the boot and use a scavenger pump to drain the oil.

480 sounds like those ones that pec sell, that don't even have the valve cutouts inline with the valves!

you never have anything nice to say do you?
yes I can supply pistons with cut outs --all depends on shape of combustion chamber --but hey I would n,t be telling it was worth doing anyway the extra will not alter the power that much --but stroke it +bore that is worth doing -will raise the torque a good amount and then you will be close to 1800cc!!
.I have seen a mini with a rotRex charger fitted --just kept detroying the mini g.box also seen one with a vauxhall 2.0 unit fitted and buick 7litre v8 in the back --long time ago --british Vita racing --would not go round corners but very quick on the straights-too short in the wheel base
