Further to my Engine won't start thread I'm currently preparing a JP4 VTS engine to go back in the Saxo. Having removed the head after some dodgy advice (not on here) it's all been built up again, new cambelt with J4 tensioner, driveshaft carrier swapped, camshaft cover trimmed to take Saxo rear mount, alternator mount changed, although I am toying with the idea of running the C2 auto tensioner if I can get the right length belt about 900mm I think.

I swapped over the sump, the dipstick tapped the spare hole & fitted a bolt with silicone, mine is the later type engine coming from a 2007 so it doesn't have the plug/bung fitted for the oil pressure switch half way up the block.

Not actually my engines but just for reference, mine is like the lower one, as you can see from the upper one there is a place to put the switch (bright shiny hole in middle of block).

So my thought is to put a sandwich plate with sensor & oil cooler outlets to replace the standard oil cooler, I presume the oil pressure sensor can be any type, does it have to go off at a specific pressure, or rather come back on at any specific lack of pressure. As it is a VTS it already has a oil temperature sensor, is that incorporated in the level switch?

I know a thermostatic one would be better, but as this is a track car it's going to be getting warm pretty quick anyway is this one suitable? Oil Cooler (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161711295297?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

Not an answer to your question but from reading people don't recommend then c2 auto tensioner over the j4 one. Think the j4 tensioner works better at high revs

Just re-read what I typed, I've replaced the cambelt tensioner with a J4 manual tensioner, but I was referring to the alternator belt, or was that how you read it?

first thing is with thermostatic snadwhich plate the car will warm up quicker --which maybe an issue in our climate which is why thermo kit better --cooling oil that does not need cooling is sapping power --maybe you should run with no cooler and check how hot its geting first ? --do you need it at all?
drill your block and fit an an oil pressure gauge /switch take off orfit one in your oil cooler piping --not ideal

Just to follow up on this in case it helps anybody on the future, I eventually decided to keep the standard oil cooler & get a sandwich plate just for the oil pressure switch, it also has 2 other take-off's which could be used for other auxiliaries i.e. Oil Pressure gauge.
