Hi all,

Looking for a new exhaust system. Really like the saxsport from what I have heard and seen.

Question popped up in my head:
- Does the exhaust sounds much different than a decatted 8v for example when I keep the stock manifold in(cat is in the manifold)?

Hello mate, welcome to the forums.

As far as exhausts go it really depends what your after, if you want a loud "raspy" sound you'll need to de-cat, have done it on my vtr and sounds lovely, although you will not pass an mot with a de-cat manifold so will need to switch back over to stock for mot, most of restriction on exhaust gases is caused by the cat so that's where I would start if I was you mate, not much noticeable noise gain with aftermarket mid section and back box tbh, I've heard that kam racing do very good exhausts and manis for fair prices, I'm picking one up of them next week what saxo have you got?

Thanks for the reply!

I don't want to decat tbh, its my first car, I'm 19 years old with little knowledge about engines and exhausts, don't want to switch exhausts for MOT's.

Is it even worth getting a aftermarket exhausts then when you leave the cat on?

Its a 2003 8v 98 bhp VTS (VTR in UK I think)

Yeah I got a cherry bomb on mine, it was only 30 odd quid new off eBay, search for pro bomb, it's a bit cheaper than a cherry bomb lol, pretty loud and tbh I wouldn't wanna go much louder on a daily! Mines a 1.4 8v, you may have to chop a tiny bit off the end of your mid pipe as there's a nobbly bit then slice the sides slightly to open it up the slot the bomb on and clamp it, I used 52mm clamps from halfrauds and also a 4 inch clamp to hold the bomb in place as it don't come with hangers, sounds more complicated than it is, just get stuck into it, it's the only way you'll learn.

The best performing exhaust for the Saxo is our KAM Racing exhaust (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/citroen/citroen-saxo/intake-exhaust/kam-racing-kam-racing-race-exhaust-system.html). It flows a bit better than the Saxsport.

The catalytic converter acts as a silencer so it will sound different to a car with a decat.
What a lot of customers do is run a performance manifold and exhaust, then fit a Mk1 VTR or VTS cat and mid pipe for MOT time. This can join to the KAM Racing backbox so you dont need to keep a rear silencer somewhere..

The mani-cat can be a right pig to get on and off sometimes so you're best trying to get an underfloor cat and a 4-1 manifold. I ended up snapping a stud in the manifold that holds it to the cat and it was a nightmare to sort
