I changed the TPS in my 106 Gti last year but now it's faulty again, I see the prices range from £25 to £80.
Which to choose?

Saying that, I got a 1.4 c2 engine in it, not sure how much it differs from a gti!

suggest you check the wiring plug --thats more liable to be problem than the sensor that quick --wiggle it when engine running

Just tried it and nothing happened, but removed the plug and it ran perfectly fine

A genuine sensor will typically last ten years. If it was a genuine sensor your fault is likely elsewhere.
If you fitted a chocolate ebay one then it's not likely to last so long, or even be linear as it should be. I get SSSSOOOO much agro with shit Chinese parts these days.... " but it was cheap".... " No it wasn't, it's just wasted £200 worth of my time...."

That's exactly my chase..
Can you point me in direction of a proper one?

Peugeot or Citroen I suppose.
I don't trust the likes of Euro ans GSF either, there was a thing on the telly about fake 'genuine' parts seized by customs "destined for a very big car parts retailer" but they didn't specify which one.

I see everything over there costs a lot. I can ask how much one is over here if you like?

Is yours a three-plug ECU or single? The throttle pots are different. (the later one isn't actually a pot but a 'hall proximity sensor')

Single plug throttle pot John. He's in Scandinavia and parts over there are a bit salty...

Thanks.
Just to make sure, we agree that it's a single plug pre-2000 model and it will fit this model?
I'll make a transfer first thing this evening
