Hi all,

new to this and driving passed my test 4 weeks ago. i have a saxo 1.4 furio when it starts up hot or cold it shakes and over revs alot they keep going up and down. someone did look it over and played under the bonnet with the throttle cable and said the revs were sticking quite high and was spraying to much fuel

( does this ring a bell with anyone)

anyone got any ideas on how to stop it

I'm no mechanic but might be worth replacing the idle control valve?

As jiz says but clean the idle housing first!
You just need some basic tools, some torx/star keys for the three bolts on the throttle and a Phillips screwdriver for the air box!
It's a simple job, just Google how to clean Citroen icv you will most likely have a saxp guide at the top of the list!
Also I would opt for a cordless drill or a ratchet set with the torx bits, especially for getting the icv off, it's quite difficult trying to put them back in manually I found!
Don't fiddle with the icv itself e.g trying to pull it in and out, it's quite easy to break :(
Failing that you could try replacing spark plugs and failing that I had someone comment on my lumpy idle yesterday saying to adjust valve clearence which I'm going to try when I get a chance!
If your new to fixing cars the trick is don't be scared of doing something even as simple as throttle cleaning, with a guide and pics you really can't go wrong or break anything, it'll all go back together nicely :)
