Hi

On my 16v VTS there is a 90A alternator, however I have an a/c too.
I don't know if this has any influence on the alternator type.

Kind regards from Hungary

cheers, ill give it a look tomorrow when i go to get a replacement, my one is quite coroded.

there doesnt seem to be much in the way of electrical items in the car apart from the windows/radio/sensors, dont want to go overkill if i dont have to lol.

alot of varying prices £90-£230 in google results for a new 1

surface corrosion means nothing, if its producing the amps theres no reason to change it

already done, wasnt getting anything over 10.8v at battery or alternator, took it for a wee spin and still wasnt getting more than 10v, sounded like the belt was slipping a bit to start with but that soon sorted itself out (hasnt been properly run for about a year)

90amp for cars with power steering

think it originally had power steering, when it stopped working though i prefer it without, can the power steering unit be ripped out without much hassle? its just added weight justnow lol.

A PAS rack that's not working is much heavier than a non-PAS rack.

If you want to run without PAS, it's straightforward - just remove the pipework to the rack and disconnect the PAS pump. If you want the weight reduction, just remove everything now not in use.
