Hi Guys,

MOT is looming and my car came without a cat. The exhaust goes:

4 branch > Flexi joint > 2" pipe all the way to back box > backbox

I am looking at grabbing a 200 cell magnaflow and putting it in the current exhaust, just trying to figure out where is best to go.

The flexi joint is about 8" long, bolts up to the manifold flange then is welded to the straight pipe, should I weld it in the middle of the exhaust underneath after the flexi, or remove the flex and put it straight to the manifold?

Cheers guys!

It would help if we knew what year & model saxo that you have.

Hi, it's not a saxo but a 106 quicksilver with the j4/jp4 hybrid in it. I guess the manifold although aftermarket is the same fitting underneath as a J4 (bolt up flange).

Just hoping to get info on where is best to stick the cat, right on the manifold at the flange or if it will heat up enough in the middle?

Stock cat bolts up to the manifold I see, essentially the stock cat has been cut out and a flexi welded in its place on the pipe that is there now.

I'm not sure why a flexi has been welded in instead of a straight pipe, looks like the stock ones don't have a flexi anyway.

Somewhat tempted just to remove the flexi and stick a normal 400 cell cat in so it passes the MOT, can't be a huge amount in performance?

Cheers.

not really relevant now youve sorted it lol.. but the closer to the ex ports it is the more efficient itll be... cats need to be nice and hot to work best thats why most cars have them in the mani now
