Hello, first post here.
My 1.5 diesel pug(apologies) has done its rings and has loads of blow by coming out the oil filler cap, I'm want to put a 1.6 8v vtr lump in it.
After a few nights of research I can't find and info on this swap, has it been done before? I have a engine with alll ancillaries, box, mounts, engine loom ecu , rad,
Keys barrel and clocks lined up, I assume I will need a new fuel pump.
Any information much appreciated

You need everything. 1.5D has no fuel pump in the tank.
requires an interior loom swap in most cases. Not all models have the wiring there to support a fuel pump for a petrol conversion. You don't need to swap the tank at all, just needs all the diesel rinsed out of it.
Are you sure it's done the rings? that's really rare. The 1.5D naturally displaces LOTS of oil mist. Check the breather near the top of the cam cover. its the ONLY breather the engine has. give it a wash in some petrol and refit.

A late thank you for your reply
I borrowed my bosses leak down tester, and had around 50 PSI on each cylinder,
and each time my dipstick popped up.
I bought a full loom and ECU, engine, gearbox, rad, steering column, fitted it all to the car. Had fuel pump put it in the bay, discovered that the fuel rail is very brittle :wall: need to get one from scrapyard.
I the meantime, I don't think I'm getting a spark, no visible spark when grounding a plug, or holding it ;)
I have read this is sometimes when the ECU is locked, however, I have replaced the clocks and barrel.
I also have a problem with the rear light clusters they have a mind of their own, cleaned earth but had no affect.
Any one have a diagram of Fuse 7&8 circuits?
Thanks in Advance

hahaha yes well at 50PSI is about 400psi too low :fcuk: I hope you were using a diesel specific one!
The barrel and clocks have absolutely no bias on the immobiliser state. the crucial parts are the (not so) mysterious "black box", the chip in the key and the ECU. Those 3 things MUST match. the rest doesn't matter.
Does the fuel pump prime when you turn on the ignition? If no, then it's the feed to the loom which comes off the starter motor or the relay under the ECU is faulty or the engine isn't earthed correctly.
If the pump primes and you 100% have no spark AND no fuel injectors injecting = immobilised ECU.
