Hi i have a citroen saxo 2000 model 1.5 diesel engine, it has 65000km, i want to know if the timing belt has been replaced, the belt itself has the lettering still visible but abit worn, it has no cracks, it is a gates belt, how do i know if its factory or not ?

look at the service history.
oem tends to be dayco. interval is probably overdue even if mileage hasn't been passed.

Yeah and it doesnt look old, previous owner said that he doesnt know if it was changed, what is the reccomended service interval for the timing belt? And is it a hard job to change it out myself ?

I'd do it anyway along with the pulleys and water pump.
If any of them fails it usually means that a car of that age would be scrap.

Interval is 80k or 10'years

Ok i will buy a kit then, only thing that bothers me with the saxo is that mine only has a light bulb instead of a coolant gauge, i want to buy a gauge off ebay and it has a coolant temp sensor with it, anyone know the OEM saxo coolant temp sensor threads size? Because i want to know if the one off ebay fits my car

most likely they will be a metric thread, something like 12x1.5 or 14x1.25, there my be a second bung in the thermostat housing you can fit a sender in place.

I put my old gauge in the top of the bleed screw for the thermostat, not the most ideal but gave me what I needed to know! As for the belt, it sounds like it's been done, I would honestly strip it down and look at it first! Also check your cam for any marks! Mine had marks on it and when I stripped it all down I could see everything was done and the tensioner was turning sweet! Just by coinkydink I found the original tensioner in the pot under the driver side engine mount pmsl.
