My car is missing the adjuster tensioner setup , I have replaced the belt and pulled the alternator all the way forward ( as far as i can tell ) using a crowbar to the end of the bracket.
If I got a tensioner setup would it make any difference? as its already as far forward as it will go.
Everything has been properly cleaned before fitting the new belt but it still slips just under 2000rpm and on aggressive down changes.

Does the alternator spin freely? it should spin really smooth and without ANY form of grinding or resistance.
Spray it with WD-40 and see if it improves.
If it's a V belt you could simply order a slightly shorter belt. but my bets on the alternator being sticky/worn.

I will check and report back. I have also noticed a clattering noise from that area mainly noticeable on idle.
Where should i try spraying the wd40? obviously not on the belt contact path.....?

Into the alternator, around the pulley etc. Not too much though.
Don't worry about it getting onto the belt, it's not a lubricant.

Crank pulley all looks fine as far as I being a novice can tell. The clattering underneath was exhaust support hanger near the silencer - wasn't touching anything that i could tell just wedged the rod under the support bracket brought the pipe down slightly stopped noise obviously this isn't ideal ... how would i go about adjusting it properly ?
