many thanks for this (I have seen it) what I'm ideally after is crownwheel and pinion teeth numbers to get to the ratios plus if possible teeth numbers on the sport gearboxes through gears 1 to 5. The 1400 xsi box would seem to be a 14/60? its the others that Im after if poss.

thanks mr Wizard car is to be running 743 cat cams mated up to a mildly ported head at 10.8to1 compression ratio on std injection (due to regs) 4-2-1 manifold any thoughts as to whether a remap might be worthwhile and if so the benefits?

It'll want a remap if you want the best performance from it, yes. If it didn't have bigger cams in it, the stock map would be good enough.

Faster idle speed to combat stalling, less fuel and more timing low down where the VE and manifold depression is less than stock, with more fuel higher up to go with the increased VE higher up, obvs.
I usually set the rev limits to 7800 with 743s.
It's also wise to optimise the cam timing whilst it's on the dyno too.
Typically 4 hour job, if everything works properly. :-)

The drive ratios are based on the proper tuning of the vehicle and the RPM needs to be throttled according to the BHP. For more information go to http://servodrivesrepair.com/.

if car is for track use there are NO STD crowns that are low enough to get best from car
unless you can find a very rare -never imported to uk -- 4wd drive gearbox from and AX
