TLDR at the bottom ;)

Hey all. Just created my account today. But I've been lurking here for a while now hahah. Created an account because I couldn't really find anything on this topic.

I've got a 1.4l 8v saxo with the round air filter (so not the panel filter). I bought a simota aero form I intake for it. However I'm expecting the stock intake system to be a bottleneck. The throttle body is so tiny. Looking online I haven't really been able to find any affordable alternatives. Only super expensive >1k ITB or billet systems.

My thinking was. Can I throw on the intake system from a 1.6l engine? Are the intake ports and threads in the same location? Finding one in a junkyard shouldn't be a problem.

TLDR: Can I throw a 1.6l 8v manifold + throttle body on a 1.4l 8v block? Has anyone else done this?

Yes, if the engines are of the same type. mpi or spi etc and of the same year.

However, the throttle body itself isn't restrictive, just the airbox and it's pipework.

the 1.6 throttle body will likely lose you power, as it is too large. Actually, I don't think there's much difference in the size.

First off, thanks for the reply mate. I was afraid I wouldn't get any.

So the port sizings and spacing the same on the 1.4 and 1.6?

The throttle itself is around half the size of the pipe coming from the intake. That seems like it could be a restriction to me. Nevertheless, you might be right. I will find out soon enough wether replacing the airbox and whatnot will have an effect hahah. If not I might change the throttle body and manifold just to see what happens. They're not that expensive from the wreckers anyways.
