when a sell my vtr am getting a vts how much bhp will a get if a get the follwing :

4-2-1 supersprint
upgraded ecu (remap)
superchipped
and cams which ones to go for
and what else do you recommend?
Ryan
15th October 2006, 14:44
how long is a piece of string....
you cant say. add this for 3 bhp plus this = 10bhp.
theres to many variable.
but what seems most common is a set of catcam 708s + breathing mods which normally come in at 155-160bhp often 157 exactly lol (why supersprint 4-2-1??? theyre so expensive, get a gmc 4-1 or raceland 4-2-1 as theyre very popular and have had good results)
and how can you have it superchipped and an ecu remap????
PRICEY-VTS
15th October 2006, 14:53
a though you can get it mapped then chipped a dident relise it was one or an other cheers bud
Ryan
15th October 2006, 14:56
the chip is just a pre map, which is set to effectively run a diff map on the ecu.
Dont touch them IMO.. get your mods on get it on a RR and get a good mapping session done.

wat sort of bhp does a remap give u
(av heard it's not worth it if you havent upgraded your cams this true)
so is it better to get the cams then the remap
bullit
15th October 2006, 16:00
yes it is
Ryan
15th October 2006, 16:06
theres no point remapping it then fitting cams!
as the MAP is programmed to your mods!!
PRICEY-VTS
15th October 2006, 16:52
so get the remap last that will take some time then need more £££££££
ets2k9
15th October 2006, 16:52
Its an expensive hobbie....
rushy_23
15th October 2006, 16:57
Look at it this way, you could remap the ECU each time you add a mod, but imagine the amount of wasted cash. Get the engine done as much as you can then remap it!
Ryan
15th October 2006, 17:36
Build up an engine!
cams, headwork a nice set of ITBs. get some standalone and have fun :D
Ryan
15th October 2006, 17:40
so get the remap last that will take some time then need more £££££££
also if you dont know what/why your doing it! you shouldnt be wasting your money!

always ask a proffessional before buying anything, for eg. phone gmc and ask about it all and see waht they think is best
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:02
bmc induction
4-2-1 supersprint
upgraded ecu (remap)
superchipped
and cams :
120 @ wheels IMO
Ryan
15th October 2006, 18:15
resulting from what transmission loss?
120@ the wheels would mean you would need to be running at least 140-150 bhp from those as the average loss from fly to wheels seems to be 30%
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:19
i got told it was 20%
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:20
so 150
liamk15
15th October 2006, 18:22
i can see afew saturdays with b shift coming on here adam lol
Ryan
15th October 2006, 18:22
so you think breathing mods would give a near on 30bhp gain?
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:23
+ cams and a remap
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:24
ive got cams, bigger valves, 4-1 mani, decat, procomp and 123 at the wheels
Ryan
15th October 2006, 18:25
just depends on what spec the cams are.
its the only point im trying to get across.
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 18:25
Whats the best way of reducing transmission loss?
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:26
fack knows
Ryan
15th October 2006, 18:27
you cant really reduce transmission loss, or if you can it will be minimal.
unless you are spending huge £££ on things.

What do you people reacon to uprating your clutch and sticking quickshift on, Is it worth it for the money spent, also hard hard is it to replace the clutch with a sporting one.
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 18:34
i get my mate to do it i dont like taking the box off. ball ache
Ryan
15th October 2006, 18:52
quickshift is a good idea and cheap, it just reduces the throw between gears, but can kill synchros faster! a better clutch is a good idea! but std valeo clutches aint bad unless your running big BHP
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 18:55
Synchros?
Is there any way to adjust my clutch atm cause its shite lol, i have to life it a foot to change gears, sucks!
Ryan
15th October 2006, 19:18
synchros. they are what are on the gearbox to help engage gear, rather than in the old days when you had to double the clutch all the time.
prob just need the clutch cable adjusting.
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 19:37
So what you reacon m8, is it worth uprating the clutch then? I think im defo gunna stick a quickshift in at some point... Im sticking a vts lump in my car in the near future, whether that makes any difference at all?
Ryan
15th October 2006, 21:31
vts uses a valeo clutch fine.
my track car has a pugsport clutch :P
i wouldnt get anything to heavy tho as its not needed IMO
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 21:40
What about Black Diamond Clutch, £150
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 21:42
my mate said they were shite not worth it at all
Ryan
15th October 2006, 21:43
just use a standard clutch or pugsport.
unless you intend to boost it, then you will prob need to seek advice from the turbo gays :P
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 21:49
my mate said he'd rather use a standard valeo than black diamond, and he does 6/7 clutches a day
Ryan
15th October 2006, 21:51
well unfortunately max power says yeah init yo must not use std anything coz iz shit bruv... lol
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 21:52
the black diamond must have neons then lol
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 21:53
lmao, but i can adjust the biting point yes?
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 21:54
you can adjust your pedal
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 21:58
is tht the same thing, cause atm ive gotta lift it like a foot off the floor to change gear n shit
s60tsy
15th October 2006, 22:03
you might need a new clutch then, either get a standard clutch or if youre running a bit of power or wanting to. get a paddle clutch. best thing to do is find a clutch centre where all they do is clutches, theyl be cheapest.
Ryan
15th October 2006, 22:03
yes you can adjust the pedal. the clutch arm above the gearbox. adjust it from there.
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 22:23
cause i want the biting point as low as poss if that makes sense. also is the quickshift very noticable, what i mean by tht is can u notice the difference and the amount shortened by the quickshift?
Ryan
15th October 2006, 22:33
get it adjusted 1stly....
as it may just be that!!!
quickshift ive not got on. but the throw on a saxo is quite large, anything reducing this on gear changes may be noticble!
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 22:37
yea cause i think its like £100 or summin to get, not sure how hard it is to fit?
Ryan
15th October 2006, 22:38
from what ive seen its very easy to fit.
and quite sure you can get them for 60-80
Josh_Phipps
15th October 2006, 22:44
Wheres that?
Ryan
15th October 2006, 22:49
search for them.
the taz ones were cheap when a group buy on RR happened last year.
gmc sell them... shop around ull find a bargain

aye a can see that happening soon like if it going to cost that much like buts it's worth it
ryhornvtr
16th October 2006, 21:50
From what ive read in the past, the standard clutch copes well with camm'ed vts' as the torque isnt much more. Only when you turbo/sc ot t-body the engine do you need an uprated clutch.
s60tsy
16th October 2006, 21:52
theres a q/shift on here for 50 notes
