The VTS's do run hot... but is this instantaneous temperature rise... or does it do it after prolonged use?
I think most VTS's run between half mark and 3/4 usually.
If yours is runnig too hot, could be something simple, like a sticking thermostat... or something more serious like a blown head gasket.
Does your radiator itself get warm?? This is a good test that the system is circulating properly.

smileys/smiley9.gif I based my post on the VTS, but the same applies to the VTR smileys/smiley9.gif

It doesn't matter how long it has been running but it is not instantaneous it increases as you go faster. and then decreases as you slow. the temp seems fine around town.

Maybe you've got a blockage or something and the cold air is not getting to the filter!

Thats a gud suggestion, probably wouldnt have the same problem either. Just take it 2 a mechanic n c if its the radiator, the head gasket, blockage or just a cheap replacement of he dial, plus if u just need 2 replace the dial, then u can have a nicer dash n dials, hey, mayb u could do like the Wings West Civic

1.there isn't a sound of running water from behind the dash is there?? if there is then u've a blockage in the coolant system. just bleed it and every thing should be fine.
my vtr runs at the half way mark or just slightly above no matter what i do but i don't trust the gauge coz it is a shitroen after all.
