I've just bought myself a 2005 clio 182 engine and all the bits to do a conversion. It's due to go in at the start of December. Just trying to figure out what kind of work load is going to be involved. The guy who is doing it says he will make it fit, cutting frame rails extra support anything that needs doing. Anyone heard of this being done before so I can know in advance what complications there might be.

heard of a GTi-6 engine being thrown in there but never a 182 engine, wouldn't suprise me if someone on here has done it though!!

I looked at the type r engine but they are stupidly expensive

so your putting the 182 in the front of your...........?? saxo?? you didn't state what car it was going into, so im assuming its a sax? have you thought about planting it in the rear? its gonna destroy your handling mate, the front end is gonna be well heavy!

LOL......

buy an engine...

then think about what car it will go into :P

gti6 in saxo, handled shit app! had to run 17s because of the gearbox, had huge probs with the steering rack.

182 conversion would be better suited to a clio :P

yeah it's a saxo. Cant stick it in the back got no back seats and a full custom install. 153.2db not really worried about the handling just with the additional weight of five 12" subs it doesnt really move at all.
I know its a bit of a drastic change but thought it might be quite unique

was gonna say the same, the amount of people who buy something, then ask questions later...

I think its good to see someone trying something different, Bores the hell out of me people saying cant be done, dont do it, etc.

Ryan
19th October 2006, 21:02
not saying it cant be done!

just that, the money it will cost, custom fabricating this and that etc... plus wiring will mean that you should have to have the pockets of a oil tycoon!!

I'm with you two on this one but good luck to you mate if you squeeze that bad boy in.

i would also have thought its not just the fact its a 2.0 you need to worry about, but the height of the engine, as i think it would be alot taller than a tu or xu engine.

plus what gearbox you going t use? custom bell housing or custom shafts??

The more I think about this the more expensive it becomes.

Ryan
19th October 2006, 21:42
yep!!
remeber the clio engine isnt designed to work with pug/cit parts.

i dont disagree that its going to murderous but i really hope this is for real and that it works, always good to see thinking out the box and if this goes ahead there should be some nice engineering to get it to work

This doesn't add upat all. Last thread was on about west coast brakes last month, now its had a massive ICE install and he's wanting to put a clio engine in?

You have all been mugged off :)

Well heres a nice picture from my imagination! During the test fit, going to be painted the same as the body colour when it goes in for the engine. H:\DCIM\101MSDCF\DSC00265.JPG H:\DCIM\101MSDCF\DSC00266.JPG

That's probably a good thing with some people's imagination :)

I would like to see it done but does anyone remember the clio with an Evo engine thread? I think we might end up down the same lines.

still havent got a clue how to make the pictures smaller. But heres the big brake kit, got it fitted on Wednesday. And thanks to some advice from on here the Vtr brakes fitted on my westcoast no problems. cheers H:\DCIM\101MSDCF\DSC00267.JPG

you need to host the pictures somewhere you cant link from your H drive.

VTR brakes will not last 2 minutes witha 182 engine behind them

Sounds interesting mate, but one thing:
whats the point of trying to squeeze that engine in and having a big install in the back?? Doesnt that just defeat the whole point of the engine swap.

Good luck mate, sounds like its going to keep u busy!
