Right.......

Had an overheating problem sorted the other day by having my radiator bled and the coolant topped up. It all started after I forgot to tighten my Rad cap up and I was pissing out coolant at 70mph on the M1. My temp guage shot right up to the red and I had to pull over to let things cool for an hour or so. I limped it at 30mph until I got to garage where I topped it up to cool it enough to get me home. This was all about 2 months ago and I've only just had it bled and topped up. BUT, the temp guage is still reading hotter then it ever did before this all began. I never really hit half way before and now it's getting to it and sometimes beyond! I know this may be normal it's just running hotter then before. I've done all the tell tale checks for the head gasket going and I've been lucky as nothing is telling me it may have gone. Could I have fried sensors? OR is it fine now and I'm worrying about nothing!? LOL..........

ALSO..........

I have a BMC CDA on the car. Recently the oil breather filter has been giving off alot of steam, even at idle. Is this to do with the above issue?

Here's a pic of what I mean..........circled is what's steaming alot (the oil breather.........)

Cheers for your theorys in advance guys.

When I had my Westcoast, the temperature guage always sat at half way when engine was upto temperature, sometimes it went over but very rarely. I would say it's running correctly, but not 100% sure when you say sometimes beyond...by how far?

Have you had a compression test done? I'd recommend getting one of those done, because I thought mine was going on the Westcoast.

I'm only assuming it's steam mate, could be anything.

My oil levels are consistant so I don't think it's burning any and I'm not getting any tell-tale blue smoke.

The plot thickens.......

oww thats bad news buddy im sorry to break this to you but probally fucked the head

1}you ran the car with no coolant
2}you tooped up a hot car with cold water
3}you left it 2 months with out bleeding the system

you should slap your self for being so stupid..

ok first of all you need to get a block test done at a competant garage
then chack compressions and then get the head off and have it crack tested
