Default coolant questions - please help
right, refitting and refillling a radiator on the saxo

firstly what do i fill with? sounds stupid but is it water and antifreeze or ready bought coolant?

how much water to antifreeze if the first option?

thirdly: using a header tank! it says to fill with 0.5 litres and run the engine!
will it spray everywhere or will it be drawn into the system?
with the header tank with o.5 litres in, the level of coolant will be about 1 litre above the mark on the expansion tank!

lastly: if i have too much coolant in there by the end should i let it drain out of the plug in the rad bottom or through a bleed valve?

The header tank is just to make sure the coolant level is aboe the higest point in the engine. Its a bit messy to do but stops you getting bubbles in the system. Coke bottle and tape a good bet

Coolant wise, it'll tell you on the wrapper, its 50/50 usually I think, better to use a proper coolant, not antifreeze IIRC.

lastly, you can drain it out of the rad I THINK but someone should double check that for me.

i normally just let the engine run. keep all caps/bleed screws shut till the pressure builds up, the bleed it 1 screw at a time making sure i keep it topped up. takes about half an hour to fully bleed it that way.
