of extra power can a saxo vts engine mark2 take before having to upgrade internals? for example a astra gsi engine can have its power doubled before replacing pistons etc, would be interesting to know when you have to start replacing head bolts with apr jobbys, obivously you should do it anyway but you id like to know how strong they are!

not trying to be awkward dude but any increase in the standard power output puts additional stress on the components... obviously they wont need instant replacement but the reliability and life of the components will be reduced. so it's a trade off between, reliability and life of the components.

Its a similar amount, though you need to be careful here, there are many ways to skin a cat and there are many ways to get big power out of a saxo, NA, Turbo, SC being the main catagories.
Sean's Supercharged effort is making a nice 230bhp on standard internals, pistons would be the next to change
Ad- Good point, but in practice piston failure on a road car is usually instant if you ask too much of them, they don't fail over time through wear and tear too often
