i imagine an automatics gearing wont really be set up for acceleration.de-cat would help get the result you're looking for and is cheap as chips for the instant power gain

manifold maybe or does it already have one? do you understand what a superchip actually does matey? and do you also understand that it has to be setup (RR) to get any real results from it!

use the gearbox off a smaller engine model.bottom end should be closer ratio and will be more nippy

lets imagine your the designer of the saxo (you wish) and you have to make bearing in mind that everyone is going to use this car, from grannies (lol seen a few in saxo's) who will use it to go shopping in, to young lads who wanna caine the ass off it!
so the best way to explain it would be as follows

the blue line is where your aiming to get your saxo, with the aid of a properly tuned chip, you can push your car to this end of the scale!
hope this helps matey!
spent ages making that gay little scale on paint lol

strip it
manifold
de cat
is the exhaust 3" bore all the way or did you mean the tailpipe is 3"
never heard of a vtr auto before but the box is slowing you down
you could cam it but IMO opinion it isnt worth it on a vtr

can you not drive a manual for sum reason? medical or summat?
its deffo the box thats slowing you down , if you got a 1.1 box on it or vts ud notice loads off difference, probly would if you just put a vtr box on

as the lads above have said mate, its the box thats slowing you down!! but if you get it chipped they will be able to tune it more towards the blue line for you! the potential is all there in the car, it just needs unleashing! lol

I agree strippin weight could be the next best thing to try an improve performance.
Your abit unclear, but if the bore of your exhaust is 3" (pipework) then that is too big for a NA engine (3" is best suited to turbo'd engines) a drop to 2.5" or even 2" and a manifold would see a increase in performance.
Unless your lookin to do head work (cams, portin and polishin) Id leave the engine alone and spend the cash else where, but thats IMO

AH! 3" Bore pipework?
Charged cars only im afraid. You will loose performance.
Get 2" or 2.25". If you are pickey about the bore size de-creasing in the bends, then do not get a custom.

change exhaust that bore is way to big as said above 2 or 2.25" is best
why wont you change the gearbox

now im thinking it is 2" bore whats the best size ... does it matter much with backboxes?

thats a quality explaination S34MER, if i could rep you i would, but it wouldn't mean much lol! to get to the blue line you will need to get the chip properly setup, in otherwords RR'd! your looking at maybe £600-£700 to get it all done properly mate!
