hi, i can drive for miles and miles, then all of a sudden the car will just cut out. its done it a few times but last night it took a while to start up again ( normally it would start up straight away ) i've read through some old history that came with the car and its done this kind of thing before which turned out to be the knock sensor, where can i get one?? and how much??
cheers, any other ideas are more than welcome

A 'Knock Sensor' is a sensor mounted on the engine that is designed to detect the high-frequency vibrations caused by detonation. By employing a knock sensor, a computerised engine-control system allows an engine to operate very near its detonation limit, thereby improving power and efficiency.
just to educate you lol!!
Now then the labour to fit the sensor is usually more than the actual sensor itself, even though its only about an hours work, if that. but im not sure if the engine has 1 or 2 sensors though, you'd have to check that, but to get the sensors, and have them fitted properly your looking at maybe around £50 for the sensor and £40-£50 labour (If you don't go to a dealer), if you go to a dealer expect to be charged an arm and a leg, read into it, its dead easy, its only one screw, but you may need to remove the inlet manifold, etc and all parts attached to it!!
Hope this helps

the sesnor just plugs into the rear of the engine. do it yourself mate and get 1 from the breakers for nothing.

you dont need to remove inlet. and to do that you would need to take the head off. you can get to it with just removing the airfilter.

Mine had a chronic problem in that whenever i hiot a mild bump in the road it would cut out totally and require being towed back to citroen.
I don't think it was the knock centre as everytime it happened the ecu would completely shut off, it used to annoy the hell out of me so ultimatley i got rid.

If its bumps in road that cause the prob ,then more likley to be inertiafuel cut off ,never seen a knock sesnor cause that prob, aslo it wouldn,t shut the ecu down ,wiggle all connections under bonnet with car running and see what happens
