this question will show how little i know about doing anything to my car, but i hope it shows i'm trying to learn...
got new panel filter from citroen and just started trying to fit it, BUT the haynes manual is all about the mk 1 - has a round shaped airfilter box you can just lift lid off apparently. mk 2 is a square box screwed not clipped together and fitted in sideways - do i need to unbolt all the ducts and take the entire thing out? will the airfilter box just lift out then?
if anyone could let me know what i do it'd be much appreciated, cheers!

I have a MK2 VTR aswell, but I presumed you could just take off the cover at the top and then change the filters. This ain't the case no?

no Luke, it's in sideways so can't pull duct off throttle body and lift lid out like it says in haynes manual.

Give me two minutes mate, I'll go check my filter box now.

From what I just checked, I can understand what you talking about now.
Yeah, the airbox can be removed from the throttle body pretty easy. You need to undo the bolt which attaches the ducting onto the mount in centre of engine, then all the ducting should come off pretty easy. Then just unscrew the airbox.
I hope you can understand that :P

cheers Luke that's really appreciated - i'll unbolt the ducting and see what happens.

yep that did it - just take off all the air inlet trunking off (3 bolts) and then you can take out the airbox. got changing the oil and gear oil to look forward to now

Don't worry mate.
Make sure you get right filter for the oil though as some people get confused.

cheers mate, went citroen garage so made sure i got right one. they knocked vat off as i was buying a few things at once so not so stopped calling them shitroen for now! funny how the oil filter system on mk2 vtr looks dead old fashioned - suppose it's easier to get at though. gonna be running on synthetic oil soon (got Total quartz 9000 from citroen).. think i'm on the cheapest sludge you can buy at mo as garage i got it from gave it a 'service' before i got it.

I'm just wondering, what did you actually buy from Citroen?
How much was it in total? I'm just curious to see the different prices.

you don't work for customs & excise do you? he, he!:)
just been digging around for the receipts - can't find first as i had to go twice (some parts needed ordering in). i got new wheel bolts (incl locking) as present are rusty and horrible (prob use some spray called af-50 they now spray motorbikes with to stop new ones going same way) & air filter £48.62; oil (£19.47); oil filter & washers (about £10 if i remember). think oil was on offer.
