iirc superchips alow the limiter to be changed.. no point tho if youve done no mods to justify revving it that hard..

Sean
6th December 2006, 13:12
no point fitting a superchip fullstop.

CampDavid
6th December 2006, 13:23
no point in raising the rev limiter so you can hit 60mph in second.

yeh im gonna do a re-map myself i got all the leads and shit and got a rollin road wht u recon the highest i could take it to before it does alot of damage?

i very much doubt you have the equipment to remap the standard ecu (even though you have 'all the cables and shit'), let alone the capability. and to be honest the fact you are asking 'the highest to take the rev limit without doing any damage' suggests you don't have the knowledge of either cam timing, ignition timing or why you actually need a remap in the first place.

ps if you do have the capability of remapping then you could make a lot of money as there is only one guy i know of (wayne@chipwizards) who does it, but like i say i very much doubt you have.

Yes, but lying and chatting utter shit isn't.

Mr Jonnyshaw here is under the impression that we will buy his tales of engine mapping from a man who hasn't considered that the cam shafts in his VTR are out of breath at the standard limitter, never mind whatever cuntyboy is thinking of taking it up to

dui_yoursax

ok,on that note, whats the highst the engine take?(revs)(vts)

CampDavid
6th December 2006, 17:57
My VTS has probably been a bit of a test bed as far as road cars go, its done about 40k now at 7850 and is showing no signs of engine wear at all. That is realistically as high as a VTS will go as standard, only replacing the cams of course to allow power to be made at the top end.

above that, solid lifters are needed and uprated valve springs are a good idea. Apparently the standard bottom end is good for 10k rpm without modification, though the cam lift you'd require would mean rebating the pistons, so forged efforts would probably be a good move.

if you don't know the difference between fact and blatant bull then why post? I was neither rude nor negative, i plainly stated the FACTS. if you can't handle that your opinion may be different or just plain wrong then I feel sorry for you when you step away from the keyboard and out in the real world.

dui_yoursax

:clapping: the dif between me and you,is that you bully people that dont know and i just dont care if they lie to get the answer they need,as long as my time at my keyboard is not wasted, and they are happy

"don't post argumentative posts, if you know the answer feel free to contribute. if you don't, then don't post bull! Sean"
so i was the one to start ripping the guy?
get over your self you mug

Sean

the guy asked a question and i answered it, and i also saved him causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to his car due to his lack of knowledge. all i've seen from you in this thread is you talking nonsense.

I will give you an easy solution to this problem, use AX gti loom and ecu... a small amout of wiring will need doing and then you have a lovely 7250rpm limiter and the gti box will allow you to JUST!!! hit 60mph in 2nd... although its quicker not to... use the gti cam aswell and your laughing

briliant answer, plus what about the head it self for a straight swap?

Ax_beefy
6th December 2006, 19:14
Yes you can fit an AX_gti head onto a vtr bottom end... this is what I am doing as soon as I can be arsed to strip the vtr engine down thats in the shed, in the AX world we call it a VTi and they are usualy good for 110bhp... although the compression is a tad high so an MLS gasket is a must if you don't want to melt the plugs! lol... you just need to rewire the multiplug a bit... not alot though iirc

dui_yoursax
6th December 2006, 19:18
just woundering if the ax gt head would fit on a 1.4,is there any dif in the valve size or what ever it would just be as straight as a straght swap

Ax_beefy
6th December 2006, 19:26
Straight swap unless the 1.4 saxo is an mpi whereas you'd need the carb shit... bye bye emissions lol... valves are fine... you can fit a vtr head to gt bottom end to give you a lighter engine (alloy block as opposed to iron) but you'd lose the only thing the VTR is good at and thats torque

dui_yoursax
6th December 2006, 19:36
mpi? whats that?

Ax_beefy
6th December 2006, 20:01
Multipoint injection... i.e. four injectors

i just wanted a staight answer. bloody hell, lol

i have an uprated cam and crankshafts aswell as valve springs and am looking to bore out the pistons to make them nearly a 1.7. i think it was about 1.697 to be precise.

you only have one crankshaft and you don't bore out pistons. seriously mate, by all means have a crack at working on your car, nothing beats the feeling of diy, but for something as big as the mods you propose i would really suggest taking it to a professional engine tuner/builder who know what they're doing otherwise you risk costing yourself a hundreds putting right your mistakes.

i dont do all this shit i do it with my m8 and he does all the engine stuff. but he didnt know about the rev limiter so thought id come and ask on here.

Sean
6th December 2006, 23:00
well to answer the rev limiter question (again), having the standard ecu remapped by wayne @ chipwizards is the best and proper way to go about it- £400
