97-99; 90bhp - 0-60: 9.9 top end: 116 fuel: 36mpg
99-; 98bhp - 0-60: 9.1 top end: 120 fuel: 42mpg
but then again the above depends on how you drive it ^^;

90bhp ECU unit has one large single connector
98bhp has 3 connectors on the ECU

Usually the old shape is the 90bhp, new shape is 98bhp although I think there was a point at the changeover period where some new models had the 90bhp engine in them.

2001 98bhp came into force as the only reason they beacme 98bhp was the emissions

there is not alot in it TBH mine is 90bhp model but with no cat exhaust from the down pipe & a piper cross filter it made 110bhp! the 98bhp model will make approx the same!? 8bhp is nothing its how u drive!

So are the engine mechanically different or is it just a different ECU? In that case surely a re-map will negate any difference?
