hey my car seems to lose traction very easily in corners and when moving off and stoping when it is wet.

is there anyway that i can stop this or reduce it so mu car actually goes around the corner and not off the side! which it has done 3 times b4 (thanks AA)

i have just had new tyres but it still loses traction!!!

any ideas will be apreciated!!!

Check all your tyre pressures are correct and have your tracking and wheel balancing done would be a good start!

that has all been done! tracking and balencing was done when the new tyres were fitted and i checked the pressure yesterday

mine is the same mate. iv spun out twice in the last month! dont know if its because iv stripped the seats out and took the sparewheel out or what! (meaning the back end is loads lighter).

stopping is crap! the back end just locks up! i have tried adjusting the bias valve but its done nothing! also i spin up in 1st, then change to second and spin up then start to grip when i get into third!

mine hasnt been stripped and still get it! spins alot in 1st and a little going in to 2nd and spins in 3rd aswell in im going around a corner. mine is all the front losing traction!! back stays planted and just follows the front in the wierd directions it likes to go!

im thinking that everyone is going to be the same about this time of year.
the roads are constantly wet and the sh*t that the concil put on it to stop it icing over just makes it worst in the day.

what tyres do you have
how low

maybe you need to adjust your driving style to conditions

1.dont go round the corner as fast
2.dont pull away at 5K revs
3.slow down gently

mines a 1.1 and its still got the 13" wheels

My 1.1 has started loosing it round corners, its ever sinse the foggy weather :). It doesnt really matter if ive gone round fast or just at a steadish pace. Was driving to work yesterday immediate turn left from stand still at traffic lights.. car decided it wanted to still go straight with the wheels turned. So im just assuming its the weather mate :) just drive carefully.

new tyres doesnt mean much, new tyres have to be worn in and new tyres cna still be crap tyres. Adjust your driving

What tyre profile did you get. I used to have a lot of wheelspin but when I got 15" I upped the widt to 195. Harder to spin it now and took it out last night to Trafford Cente. Drove home rally style and it gripped round corners at speed. Weather is obviously gonna make a difference. Colder ground too, as warmer ground in summer etc will warm the tyres which would help too.

Also, ,lower the tyre pressure on all four tyres. Should make a difference (more contact with ground)

I've had my VTS now for about 1 and a half months and when i first got it i was impressed with the handling but in the icy and wet conditions it wasnt that good back end came out on me a few time but it aint happened again learn to control your car better surly you can judge when your going in to a corner to fast. Learn to control it nothing like abit of drift round a round about lol.

all I'll say is take off the lead boots and apply the power in a smooth and progressive manor. You usually won't get wheelspin (if it starts to spin you back off a smidge - not completely) and you will be a faster driver overall.

Very easy to blame the car, but with a reasonable set of tyres - nothing korean! - the car is more than capable of managing with the conditions.

front wheel drives are a burden from the start - when it comes to cornerin!

although vt's will obviously handle better due to weight and wheel/tyre differences (compared to skittish 1.1's)
