im getting my head port & polished next wednesday and my mate wants the valves out. will i need a valve spring compressor or will they just tap out?

need to otherwise i gotta sourse a valve spring compressor by next wed.

yes you will need a valve spring compressor. Always use the correct tools for the job :thumbup:

i was speeking to a mate on hear and ssc who is doing a conversion from a 1.4 to a throttlebodies, cammed vts and he has taken the valves out of his head as he is totally rebuilding the engine. he said he just tapped them out! and put them in numbered bags!

tapping them out is gonna be amazingly difficult, it u have a spring compressor it takes about 5mins!

if u wanna bring ur head to me then i can do it for you.

put some old carpet down on a bench and put the head doen as it would sit on the engine. the get a socket and put it on top of the valve, whack it with a hammer and the retaining collets will pop off. you will need a comressor to refit the valve though.
