Does the power steering need to be working for an MOT?

The pump on my VTR is knackered, and MOT time is looming.

I was wondering if I took the pump out, and made sure the pipes werent leaking fluid, then I might get it through the MOT.

but a Nova doesnt have power steering as standard. I dont know if its the case of "if its fitted, it must work" with the Power Steering.

Suppose I should just phone an MOT station and ask.

i think if its on your car as standard (from factor) its got to work.

Mine fooks up some times and i just hit it with a hammer till its working with out squeling like a biatch

mines works sometimes in wet weather.

A bit scary when cornering sometimes when it suddenly starts working again.

Go to a scrap yard and buy a 2nd hand one, shouldnt be too much.

Was it new? I am a bit picky about buying used parts from Ebay, as they might be as bad as the one thats on it.

nah wasnt new.

i trusted the seller, had enough feedback.

works fine.

I might search for one then. As long as it works for MOT day then thats all that matters.

My parts list just keeps growing...............................groan!!

I would imagine that as long as its not leaking fluid then it should pass, but i'll call an MOT station and ask

Doesn't need the power sttering to be working to pass an MOT as long as it's not leaking fluid. If it is and the tester sees that they can fail it on that but if it just doesn't work it will pass!

Strange but true

So it does have to work to pass mot right?

If it works but makes a noise when the wheels are turned you think it will still pass, my mrs has an mot coming up and hers makes noise when you turn the wheel....
