new engine question???

gettin a new engine chucked in my vts on tuesday hopefully, on the new engine on the front right theres like a silver pipe that has been snapped off

what does it do?
is it needed?
if the engine will run fine with out it what can be done to seeal up the hole

ok so could i just block that pipe off, or is it essential i keep it???

its the EGR valve.

Not 100% if it will work partially removed (broken) i think you will need to repair ot or remove it completely
