Just had a new engine put in my vts, been in a week and no probs so far.Had to take my decat off when the engine went in to get it through the mot.At the moment im contemplating whether to put it back on.
Been checking out gmc's website and it says that a decat will lose u a small amount of power, but it then goes onto say that u should fit a decat, with no real explanation of what the benefits are.
Also another question is can a decat do any harm to an engine as a couple od months after i fitted mine the so called " bullet proof" bottom end" of my old engine was absolutely mullered!!
if the worse it will do is lose just a couple of bhp im gonna re fit it, as i miss the noise u get with a decat smileys/smiley17.gif
comments welcome..........

what they mean by fitting a decat is fit a decat but have a box in its place thats a much higher flow rate than a cat. By having this the sound waves that help to remove gasesare still present as the will bounce of the innards of the replace meant box thus releasing the power lost with a cat but also keeping one of the benefits of it.

To be honest, if you put the de-cat on and notice performance lose then put the cat back, but any performance lose is most likely to be small and you probably wont notice it. But for power hunting people any lose is a big losesmileys/smiley17.gif
