hey everyone i fancy doing a decent engine mod other than my induction kit. I was thinking a new set of cams but wouldnt no where to start or what to buy thats decent value for money. Any other engine mods that are worthwhile and not to hard in the pocket, then im open to suggestions. thanks

i would get a manifold before cams

if i go for a manifold, does anything have to be done with the cat?? and would it fit in direct replacement leaving my orginal center section and back box?

also what would i gain from changing this lol.

where is your CAT located now? in the manifold or under the car?

will add a couple of BHP and more air flow through your exhaust system, will also De-cat if your CAT is in the manifold

the cat is part of the manifold but my mot is due in a couple of months so would i have to swap manifolds back over again for that?

i would get the GMC 4-1 where you don't need to relocate the oil filter, quality piece of kit, totals upto around £300 with everything you need to fit IIRC

induction kit BMC for around 170 to 200 top quality induction kit that wont suffer from heatsoak from the hot engine.

Then exhuast inc. manifold and de cat. Ported throttle body then cams and a remap.

i dont no what to do now lol.ive just read up on the gmc 4-1 manifold and its says from 2001 onwards u need to relocate the oil filter and housing.i didnt think u had to touch the oil filter when using the 4-1.

whats more will i gain from a bmc ind. kit to the standard piperx i have fitted just now?

the more expensive 4-1 by GMC you will not have to move oil filter

BMC is enclosed and won't soak in all the hot air, enclosed will produce more performance but won't sound as loud as your piperx

personally I'd get rid of the cat in the manfiold by changing that. Then come MOT time fit a Mk1 full system with the cat in the exhaust.

To start with its a VTR mate so its single cam ;) now, a CAM is out of your price range mate, its gonna cost you nearly £300 for the CAM, then a re-map is gonna be needed to see any real improvement in power, which is gonna set you back £300-£400.

I'd go with Exhaust first, then Induction Kit, then a Manifold!!

GMC only sell 1 manifold for vtrs now and they fit both types of engines and you dont need to move the oil filter

the pic baz posted has the GMC on to
