View Full Version : over heating slightly and a little funny noise

right my vtr seems to be ova heating slightly. it hasnt gone into the red but stopping for lights the temp goes right up more then usaul. this might be normal. plus when the engine get to high revs it make a bit of a crackling noise. this allso has just started. Could this be cos i put sum redex fuel cleaner in a couple of weeks ago...

any idears why all this is hapning or is it normall, thanks

could be fan not working
temp senor
thermostate

is it the exhaust make the noise

Are your coolant levels correct

Also do a compression test to check the Head Gasket.

Look for any oil in the water / Mayo in the oil (bear in mind that there can be some of the latter due to short journeys). These are signs of the HG

Also the rad might not be functioning right. Using your hand make sure the radiator hasn't got any cold spots that would indicate a blockage. If you have I would reverse flush the coolant and get some fresh mixture in. Make sure its bled correctly though.
