I have a 57i K&N filter on my 1.1 1997 and was wondering can you buy or make a heat sheild to prevent the hot air being sucked into the air filter. Also my cold air feed is not brilliant i dont think it is pointing enough at it. Cheers REP given

only thing i can recommend is to get cold air pipe custom made that will allow u to fit the induction cone down towards the grill etc. someone did it a while back where they removed foglight to get the cold air in and let the custom pipe carry the air into the inlet.

at the moment because its an old 1.1 the air filter is ontop of the throttle body so there is no pipe to move it if you understand? Is it possioble to attach it to a pipe so that it can be moved somewhere cooler?

Take alook on www.espdesing.co.uk in their induction/airfilter section as they not only sell heat shields but also see Silicone hoses and polished tubing to either modify or totally fabricate a new induction kit.
The secret is to get the filter as far away from the engine and manifold regardless whether its a 1.6 16v or a 1.1. Behind the headlight is probally the coolest place then get a cold air feed up from either the front bumper or behind the grill to feed the filter cold air.
Dont expect massive gains but a well feed induction kit should make the car feel slightly more responsive and revy regardless of engine size :-)
Good luck get a pic up if you've got one too

Does anyone know the diameter of the pipe of hose needed to put straight onto the throttle body so i can move the filter away. At the minute the the filter sits on top of the throttle body. The cone faces upwards towards the bonnet. I would need a 90degree L shaped hose so i can then move the filter to the front of the car. Hope that makes sense if anyone knows what i would need please help. Will try and get pics up tomos.
