probably not a lot in it to be honest mate as the phase 2 weighs more than the phase 1 so not gonna be a massive difference like.

probably not a lot in it to be honest mate as the phase 2 weighs more than the phase 1 so not gonna be a massive difference like.

but they do a phase 2 90bhp! so technically, it will be even slower lol

People say there isnt much difference, but i raced my 90bhp (phase 2) against a 98bhp on an airfield (i had my girlfriend in the car aswel, she doesnt weigh much but still additional weight), by the end of it there was 2 car lengths. and mine seems to only do 115 on the clock where as the 98bhp seemed to keep going to around 125 on the clock. not saying that the speeds are correct though.

but when i had my 90bhp stripped out and a rolling start in 2nd gear it was the 90bhp that pulled away.

In the good old car mags, they think these are the specs

90bhp - 9.9 (0-60)
98bhp - 9.1 (0-60)

Also the 90bhp we have to pay a shit lot more tax :n:

also it works out cheaper to mod a 90bhp than a 98bhp. just search on sites for exhaust systems and you'll understand. i know that wasnt your question but still.

I would say get a mate with a 98bhp and a 90bhp get on a drag stip (private land), see who comes out on top.

Obviously aswel its all down to the drivers ability!

So in answer to your question, yes there is little difference but not massive difference but i would say teh 98bhp if both were standard would be the faster car. thats phase 2's, with phase 1's not weighin much i would say be pretty even :y:

sorry for the blab on am bored :afro:

i would say the 98bhp is faster standard but wen u start doin mods to them both the 90bhp one is quicker as it has a better ECU.

yeah yours is a 90 if mk1! i had a big thread called ecu! on how to tell the difference! i wouldnt have known if i hadnt asked! hope i can pass the knowledge on. and i agree that i think you would see better gains out of a 90 over a 98 :y:
