As i posted on ssc. I would like to know if anyone with 708s unmapped has passed an mot and how close it was? as i won't be able to get it remapped before mot, and screw putting std cams back in!

I had a VTR with CAMS and no re-map and that passed MOT, sorry its not VTS but should help you out, was very lumpy on start up though, but make sure you take it to MOT warm ;-)

Should pass as the remap would increase the fueling to match the extra air getting into the engine and as you havnot had it done the fueling will be the same as a standard car

I recently had to remove my catcam 708s and ecu because, no matter what, it would not pass the emmissions! That was mapped but not sure who by.
Running standard "chipped" ecu and cams it flew through

Yeh i think it would pass wouldnt it. The fueling hasnt been touched so it will run lean rather than rich. So i guess it would acctually be lower emissions?

Just got an email back after asking qep and they said they dout it will pass an mot as the idle can be very erratic!

Mine was funny erratic is the right word, but like I said if the engine is warm its no where near as bad

with cams the engine will breath less at low revs in theory and more at higher revs so it will run rich but in theory it will be under lambda control so should be pretty close to spot on. then again i have 3.5 bar fpr so it will be overfuelling even more.

such a hard decision, mot is booked!

In that case couldnt you arrange for an emissions test to be done first to see how it goes? Although by the sounds of things this would be a fail.

Or if you dont have time to fit the std cams see if the garage could fit them for you & you will just need to refit the 708s when your ready to go for a remap?

How long do you have left of your MOT? Enough time to maybe cancel this one & have it remapped even if it would mean having the car of the road for a few days untill you can get the test rebooked?

Would it not simply pay you to take a quick run to a MoT station and ask them to check the emissions before the test day?

Yeah ask to get it checked first as you think it might fail!

I think it will fail being honest. Sucks doesnt it.

Let us know how it goes Alex :)
