intercooler big or small

im in the process of turboing my saxo vts but was just wondering if it is worth modifying my front bumper to fit a big front mount or do you think i should get a small low mounted one which will take less modifying.

depends on the size of the turbo, what internals you are going to use and the amount of boost you are planning to run. If you run an intercooler which is to big for your set up you can increase lag, and lose power.

will prob be running around 1 bar at a push a lil bit more but going to get the engine set up so it doesnt need to run alot of boost to make it quick. want my inlet temps to be as cool as i can get them . its a gt28 that i am running

Go for a smaller one which will take less modifying and will work more efficiently with your set to help give you better performance. What are the sorts of sizes you are looking at using?

it certainly is.

Don't forget, the turbo has to 'fill' the intercooler (i.e. pump it full of air).

On a small engine, that can take some time (as it'll all disappear out of the DV (assuming you fit one) when you release the throttle.

Nice analogy -> Imagine filling a coke bottle from a tap turned on full blast. Now imagine a coke can being filled from the same tap. Which oen will be full first?
