As above...

RR day soon, which my vtr should be ready for (although wont be remapped:()

With the following mods what do you think my bhp could be..

60K Silver top mk1 Saxo VTR, 1999, rgular oil changes, new bosch super 4 plugs etc..

- 4-2-1 Supersprint manifold, SS decat, Remus racing tube and Magnex SS
backbox.

- 106 rallye inlet manifold

- Pipercross Viper

- Kent Cam (approx 11bhp increase once mapped & Adjustable Vernier pulley

Other mods include (although not bhp increasers...) XSi gearbox, Ive just fitted along with a new Clutch. 266mm front brake setup and various new gaskets whilst Ive had it off the road..!

Thanks,
Nick:y:

Nice set up, got any pics of engine?

I guess around 120bhp if you have had head work

Thanks dude, Headwork to come sometime soon, explained in my VTR prog. thread.

I will do soon, it should all be back together in the next week so watch the progress thread.

Thanks :) Would be great if its kicking out around standard vts bhp.

you getting re-map after head work yeah?

i think around the 120 mark

110-115 sounds reasonable to me, no reason why it couldnt hit 120 though

I got around 117-119 different fiquires each time rolling roaded on my vtr had a similar set up only piper 285 cam was also remapped if you get head work and have the s1 rallye inlet and also get the timing altered for best performance i dont see why you could be running around 120-130 bhp but only with the head work s1 inlet and getting your valve timing tinkered with

Can I be cheeky and ask roughly how much you've spent getting it to that kind of level?

Think its fair to see 115bhp maybe more if everythin works well on the day :-)

Id be well happy with that figure from the mods mention.

Just two questions:

1) Was the Rallye inlet manifold a direct swap?
2) Why a XSi gearbox? is it geared to be shorter?

For now it will be as described, will run the inlet and cam/pulley etc but wont have remap or head work done by the RR day..

I will definitely be having headwork done and a remap in the near future (the expensive part..)!!

Thanks for the info mate, I will certainly look into having the timing altered too as I hadnt thought much about that, defo headwork and a remap ont he cards tho. :p

Well the 106 Rallye inlet set me back £110
XSi gearbox £80
Clutch £70
Pipercross Viper £60
Magnex Backbox, Remus centre pipe, SS decat and Supersprint manifold £180..( I know people ;) )
I am still waiting on my Cam and pulley but a mate is getting it cheap as he knows the owner of Kent Cams :) and prob be £150-£200..

Pretty much a direct swap I believe, all you need to do is modify the stepper motor, but mine is already done :)

XSI box, I knew of one and heard through Mark (GreenSaxo) that they are meant to be good boxes, Im pretty certain they are quite short ratio but with a long'ish final drive still.

how much bhp did you gain from inlet manifold ?

Havent a clue mate..
Anyone have any ideas..??

oh just that what you,ve done is near on the same as mine exceptp the inlet manifold and pulley well it is the same part from the above

28th February 2007, 18:57
Oh right, ok mate, Im afraid I could guess how much, not alot thought, just drawsin more air, approx 10mm bigger over standard i think

saxo_vtr1234
28th February 2007, 19:05
not alot bhp gain then mate 2-3 ?

shaggers_saxvtr
28th February 2007, 19:19
Not sure, maybe something like that, just better throttle response etc really.

saxo_vtr1234
28th February 2007, 19:35
so we should be bowt same power is your cam a pt 40 ?

stiffler69
28th February 2007, 20:10
Ive heard you can get really good gains from the inlet once the car is mapped fully and thats a massive amount more to flow 10mm, times it by the speed the engine is pulling in the air and i bet its a good percentage of power increase overall should be a fast vtr if you get the work done thats listed, also i know a place who can map the car and is alot cheaper than chipwizards over £100 cheaper

saxo_vtr1234
28th February 2007, 20:14
where ?

stiffler69
28th February 2007, 20:15
where ?

The place is called automark and its in stokesly in middlesbrough he charges £290 plus vat works our around £340 i think much better than the £480 summit chip wizards wants

Yeah mate it goes on the rolling road to be mapped and they generally deal with the big boys turbo'd audi's subarus and come very highly recommended in the area
