Paint Calipers Gold When I Get To Scotland
May Fit New Mintex Pads Not Sure :homme:

What do you lot think of the plans? making right choice for colour caliper?

To do the calipers do i just wire brush them, then de-grease, rinse, dry, Paint????

cool, hows the new s? taht brace looks bent! in one corner it looks crimped, waiting for richie to get up and ue the pit, couldnt get enough leverage when had it jacked up, or does the car need to be jacked up to fit as wheels off the deck, the nuts were dead tight!

Richardson_VTS

The brace was fine for me bud. i had to put it over the drivers side bolt first then the passenger side. I had the car jacked up off the ground yeah. and the nuts are tight to start with, just slap abit of WD on 'em!

No problems at all, we had the whole system on in 10 mins! Tried moving the pipe tonight cant move it as no more give in teh rubber hangers.....

Yeah it has 3 hangers on the backbox, sure i used the right one! could have used the other one you think? that make it higher? i though it was a vts as the hanger on vts is different?

the magnex looks spot on, sits well. How you finding the spax springs then mate?

very soft :homme: but its got rid of the noises i was getting from the suspension, we didnt even need to clamp them down to get them off, if you look at photos of the springs on previous pages you can see how short they were, car seems to sit more level now aswel.
I forgot when i had the car lowered at the rear i didnt have the back seats in, so the car will be sitting slightly lower at the rear with the seats in :( nothing that cant really be sorted.

Now i am in a dilema, do i return the car to standard now? leave it lowered with magnex on, or continue with the gold black theme? need assistance!

IMO the gold and black theme looks really really good hence why i am going down that route. but on the other hand it has been done time and time again which has made me think twice about carrying on with it.
Your car is coming along very nicely mate with this theme, and gold is one of the best colours to match with black.
You could colour code it which would change the look of the car/freshen it up, but would also still keep the theme going.

16th May 2007, 17:15
Bit of an update, got stuck in the drive! Centre silencer full on twated the kurb when coming out the drive, luckly wasnt going fast, doesnt seem to have done much damage, the back of the centre silencer has a few scraps and a tiny dent on the lip!
Jacked it up tighten all nuts and checked it isnt blowing!

Struggled getting into my drive though it grinded in and out :( Didnt realise how low my car sat since put the spax springs on cant fit my feet under the sideskirts when stopped half over the path :panic:

yeah baby, low is the way to go! w00t!

in response to your question a few pages earlier, should you go back to standard or keep goin with the gold/black theme..

i think u should do a bit of a combo of both..
i like the gold black theme, but i dont like black wheels!
standard vtr wheels, not polished ones or any of that, just real shiny, smoked back lights, black badges on back, and front..
now i reckon that would look good!
enjoyed the vids of ur sax too mate, sounds well!
altho i agree with ya, i rather the look of the standard exhaust, tho that one u have sounds well! keep up the good work!
ill hopefully update my thread sometime soon, have a few plans for her which i should get done middle of june! :)

The Cleaning Session

Woke up at 8 so thought i would clean the car, went got some petrolium (slow drive there and then to the shop), got to halfruads 10 mins early didnt open till 10. So waited like a plumb, there was a fair few whores waiting to get in though.

Got some essentials, not really just tyre shine interior shampoo and some autoglym car shampoo as sick of tescos wash and wax!

I hand washed it last night but there was still some dirt so a quick trip to tescos hand wash and £2.30 later.

Wash down with power shampoo.
Wheel cleaner
Soap and brush (i know its bad, only did on thick parts of mud around the archs)
Power rinse
Wax
Then mineral water or what ever.

Bck to mine

Chomooo mother fu**er (choamis leather) the car.
Turtle wax nano tech polishing wax pasted the car
Hand buffed with valleting cloths (didnt bother with power polisher)

Then i took these photos while weather was good, didnt come out aswel as i would have liked.
note: i had not finished cleaning, still had to do wheels, glass tyre shine and interior (there are no before and after photos either :homme:)

Here we go, i think they look good :y:
I did the fronts, didnt plan doing the rears, so let them dry cleaned car then did the rears.
Only washed car with autoglym shampoo and choamised down!
Simonz back to black the bumpers, shampoo'd interior and thats it, i think looks clean for what has been done!

Steve

fitted lower strut brace today!
this is the how to.......

Tools

18mm Spanner
18mm Sockect and Racket
Angle Grinder

If you have a pit drive cover over it, if dont use axel stands jack the car up, get under.
Spanner on the nut, socket on the bolt (which is on the front side ;))
Loosen and take nut off do NOT take the bolt out.
The omp strut brace does fit on, once try and put the nut on you will see why i used an angle grinder, you cant fit a socket in (well i didnt have one that would fit in)
So i took the angle grinding and cut around the housing which the nut sits in, then hey presto i could now fit the spanner in.
Slide brace over bolts washers on then nuts on, tighten up :y: lol

Will get some pics, unfortunately non of the grinding lol

Quick pic of the lower strut
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q84/Steve_vtr/Progress%20Thread/1945bfd5.jpg

it does make a difference, i really didnt think it would tbh. Since i put spax springs on the cars handling was way to soft and understeering!
Since put that on feels more solid and didnt seem to be understeering anymore!
And its not all in my head incase some one says that as took it down one of my allocated routes :homme: lol
only cleaned the car yesterday and its covered in flys again!

piece of piss if you could get a socket set onto the nut but there isnt room and the cups the nut sit in you cant get a spanner in, so i cut the outer side of the cups when it was off the car so i could then get a spanner in :y:

If that was already done then its a 5 min job, i couldnt loosen the nut and bolt when i had the car jacked up but lukily richie has a pit and loosened straight off :afro:

hope that sort of helps, deffo makes a difference i recommend to all :y:

i would try fitting it without cutting it if you can first! :P

quickshift is fitted, shit loads of difference still feels a bit long from 3rd to 2nd but its really short going up the gears.
didnt do a how to as cant go wrong with their instructions. Only problem i came across was there is plastic casing containing wires which had to be re cable tied higher to stop the linkage hitting bar that its a good buy, same as b&m but with out the trouble of hitting heat shields etc
