Inspect radiator for leaks/damage, change coolent & change thermostat, maybe even a dodgey temp sender sensor.

VTR's are known to sit hot (in traffic), your safe if the fan kicks in & cools accordingly.

Hope this helps.

havnt you just fixed your valves or something... could have something to do with that? unless its been alright since then?

the heaters get redhot in car when set on hot.
i just put in new engine coolant.
radiator is fine nearly new & same as sensor, havent changed thermostat tho as when i striped the engine down i done a hot water test and it was fine.
the fan cicks in but whilst the engine is running doesnt seem to keep it cool! it has just shot up evan tho the fan was on :(

Head rebuild hmm.., headgasket go?

Other than thermostat the only other thing that comes to mind is the water pump but with that being attached to the cambelt etc you would know if it was playing up as it would be whinee...

odd symptoms m8, really not sure after this, sure someone with a bit more expertise than me could advise further.

Kudo's if you did the head build yourself :y:

yes m8 the head gasket, 1 camfollower, and 4 valves went all at the same time :( but i rebuilt the lot totaling
all new valves, valveseals,
a full set of camfollowers,
everything cleaned out on the head + all new gaskets n seals for the engine & head so yup head rebuild done buy myself!

have you vented the system? If there is air in the coolingsystem it might overheat

do a compression check. You should have had the head skimmed really as it may not be seating correctly
