What would be the difference between getting a back box and a full system, all im looking for really is the sound lol , sounds gay i know , which would be best if any

may see better throttle respone with full system. nothing major.
backbox for noise matey. or just get a induction kit.
for noise i would go for a full system and a filter.
if you want more noise with the odd bang and pop, i would get a de-cat and manifold too ;)

backbox for noise
system for performance
and manifold will make it even better :y:
you can get a powerflow system made up, just tell them you want it loud and they will make a stainless system up with 1 small box at the rear :)

full system is best if you can afford it
if your after noise get a universal back box there loud

a de cat is were you remove the catalistic convertor and put a straight through pipe there giving you more power and noise
you will need to put this back on for MOT as it will fail
manifold is is conected to the head and the standard saxo manifold is restrictive a uprated 1 will give better gas flow = giving more power

Decat takes you catalytic converter away giving you less restricted performance and a 4 branch manifold is the bit that comes off your engine block that connects to the catalytic converter.
By decatting it will fail the mot so you would have to put your cat back on for mot's.

If its just its just noise then your best bet is a custom job with a universal Jap style can, the reason Jap style cans are so noisey is because where a normal back box has quite a large box compaired to the tialpipe this means there will be more baffles in which the noise from the exhaust is silinced.
Jap cans are almost straight through and have a very low amout of baffles.
These will give a nice burbble on tick over and will be very throaty on acceration.
This note will increase again if the centre box is removed and again if the manifold is changed to a 4branch item.
A jap can can be fitted for between £50-£90 excluding the cost of the can and complete systems with just the rear can from £150-£300 depending where you go. Try www.essexracing.com for cheap universal cans or eBay.
If your just looking for a cheaper option then Peco or Sportex offer noisey back boxes. try www.tuning.co.uk for sportex options and www.performancecentre.co.uk for Peco options.
A direct fit mild steel back box will set you back about £100+, so this about the same money as a custom back box.
If performance is not an issue Id go for any of the above mention back boxes depending on what takes your fancy then get a striaght through centre section to really get that exhaust note burbbling.
Hope that helps mate :y:

what does the catalytic converter do
Takes harmfull gases out of the exhaust gases.
Removing the cat is like removing a siliencer and will increase the exhaust note and improve gase flow too, massive aid if your running a 4branch manifold, only problem is after 1994 all cars fitted with a cat need to have them fitted for the mot overwise no mot.
Personally I couldnt be bothered with that, thats why I go a sports cat.
Janspeed and BM make these also a partner of online-tuning do sports cats, expensive bits of kit and probally not massive gains to be had but better than standard cat plus its always there is you get pulled and need to be sent to an mot station by the local fuzz
