I might be going custom on exhaust and was wondering what would be the best bore to go for. 2" or 1 3/4". Wil be on a mk1 vtr. Cammed 4-2-1 port n polished, S1 inlet and will be gettin standardalone management.
Also would i lose alot of performance by going for a duel exit (one either side)
Also have considerd the abp magnex system. But still not sure as not a fan of the look of them. But would help me as exhaust tends to scrap around the cat area. And that system doesnt have the silencer in there so sits higher i believe.

2" bore is the norm mate. Wouldnt go less as you may find it more restrictive?
I doubt you will loose performance with a dual exit system mate, all depends on
the quality of the custom work.
Magnex systems are good as they are a tried and tested design. The backbox is
abit big but it wouldnt say there ugly. I like them actually on saxos!
WHen you say doesnt have a silencer, are you on about the Magnex or your
current system?

For a tuned twin cam 1600 2" is fine, If your thinking of going side exit then one side would be better for back pressure and your need a centre box other wise it will be striaght out of the cat and thats not really ideal.
Personally Id go Manifold - Cat - Straight through Centre section - the back box with nothing bigger than 3" opening (not the same as tailpipe as most like Janspeed, Magnex etc have a funnel effect so the tailpipe looks bigger than the opening ie 2"-2.5" opening then a 3"-4" tailpipe for show)
Id keep the cat saves changing it about once a year for the MoT

Nah i ment duel exit on the back. One either side like. Instead of just the one exit. Not on the side lol. Was just wondering if there would be much loss of performance. As i really like the look of it.
With the magnex i thought it had a silencer where the cat would normally go. Where on the abp one they have got rid of that one so just a decat pipe so to speak.

Definatly go for the 2" bore mate ,the 1 3/4 would be to restrictive.

if you have 2backboxs either side then yes you will lose power go for a 2" bore and youll be fine, get an interchangeable decat pipe made up ;)

where are you getting it made?
most custom systems will loose you power because of the way teh bend the pipes.

Was going to ring torqueflow for a quote aswell haha my mate recommended them as he knows the guy.
MIJ performance was the main one in walsall. Know a few people who have had exhausts made up for performance cars and been happy with the results.
But am worried about not being able to get the power gain that i would off say a magnex system.
Is the abp magnex system 2" bore? anyone know?

He will rip you off let, right and centre..
I bought an exhaust made by him and covered under a lifetime warrenty from a friend (reef on the forum)
He paid £300 for the zorst from manifold back,
The tip breaks off every other week, the exhaust rattles..
Its meant to be "Finest grade stainless steel" but its thin as fuck.
Them guys chat so much Sh*t its unbelievable, They said to my mate £30 for a full stainless steel pipe from manifold to backbox... (my mate had his done and was on a ramp at a garage), obviously my mate just paid £80 so didnt need it.. few weeks later i went with my mate (Mark3 gti golf) and the guys brother was there.. so i said 2 him i want a £30 straight pipe as your bro said and he started yabbling on.. blah blah ended up at £120...
My mate went back to him as his exhaust was blowing and agreed to have a full pipe for £160, removing the centre section etc and any repairs to backbox, anyways my mate not knowing much, he just knocked him up a pipe from after the cat and charged him £160.. then wanted £65 more for a decat even though it should have been included..
Ive seen a few of his jobs and they arent good at all..
