View Full Version : port & polished throttle body (ALL EXPLAINED PAGE 4)

hi everyone.
as you know i port & polish a lot of VTS and VTR throttlebodys to sell on sax-p and also on ebay.
just thought i had to share this with you as i am so shocked!
since i dropped the vts engine in my vtr i ported & poloshed the throttlebody. today i stuck a standard one back on and took it for a blast.
i can honestly say that i am gob-smacked with how much slower my car feels! throttle response it uber shit and it has got very poor power in lower revs. it feels like there is something restricting the revs!
(compared to havuing the p&p throttle body on)
I can guarentee that my figure of 166bhp on my cammed vts has DEFINATLY been helped by having a port & polished throttlebody included in my spec.
Scott
17th March 2007, 15:36
slighly off topic but you cant guarantee that figure of 166 @ the fly:P the wheels figure you can:P
Always thought the inlet system on teh saxo's was pretty decent, but good ot hear it can be improved cheaply to
spencer_cammedvts
17th March 2007, 15:37
lol lets talk wheels figures then dude!
i just thought i was back in the vts before it was cammed!lol just couldnt beleive the difference between ported & standard unless its just the fact that my car hasnt been mapped to a standard throttlebody but i doubt it!
Scott
17th March 2007, 15:41
Suppose the map would be slightly out with the standard body on. Which begs the question why you have a standard one back on:P
spencer_cammedvts
17th March 2007, 15:45
lol it was easy £££
a mate of mine asked me if i could port & polish his throttlebody for him so i said yer. he arrived at my house a bit later than usual and i only had 30mins before i had to get changed to go out so i just said we would do a swap.
then when i get chance ill port & polished what WAS his standard throttlebody.
that fu**er is gonna be the fastest iv ever ported & polished a throttlebody lol cause its shite as standard!

He told me he was the one that made the guide in the first place anyway.
jamiep
18th March 2007, 16:24
can u also do these for 1.4 engines?
Steve
18th March 2007, 16:29

stevenet15
18th March 2007, 16:33
Steve does them cheaper.
He told me he was the one that made the guide in the first place anyway.
i first put the thread up about the port & polished vts throttle bodys and about removing the lips, imperfections etc... and spencer also contributed to this and went on to do it for people where i jsut did it for myself at the time. spencers work is real good and he is a genuine nice bloke, there is nothing in it between one i have proted and one he has ported as we both do the same thing but if u do decide to get a ported throttle body get it off either spensor or myslef rather then someone else as we have done quite a few between us and know exactly what were doing
stevenet15
18th March 2007, 16:36
how much does steve charge? where is the guide for doing it?
the guide is no longer avaliable and it was for vts throttle bodys not vtr, also u need the right equipment and tools to get the good finish with out imperfections and it also takes a good few hours to do wich is why its easyer for people to get us to do it. i am currently only stocking vts throttle bodys but if you wnat a vtr one pm spensor and he can sort you out

can do a mk2 vtr one anyway. even though they are plastic there are still restrictive areas on them!
iv done well over a hunderead of these now and also do them for other cars such as rs turbo's, vauxhaul redtop engines, mondeo, corsa's and rover k series ones
spencer_cammedvts

23squid for a vts one posted?
i send you ,ime and you send me a ported and polished one?
whats the crack with these, what do you do, how much you take off them?
surely you can only open the filter end of the TB up, wont be able to touch the butterfly end?
not that i have ever had a look at the vts TB, lol just curious lol
stevenet15
21st March 2007, 09:30
there is quite a fair bit taken off them, there is a big lip restriction point jsut before the butterfly that restrics the airflow, this is comletely boared back, there are also loads of casting marks around the other areas of the throttle body that are taken back and then the whole thing is smoothed and buffed up and few other little bits done. everyone that i have sold one to has been very happy with the results. its hard to show u what exactly we do but in laymans terms its like having a 2" drain pipe with a 1.5" pipe in the middle it will restrict airflow. here is a sorta pic that shows u the lip

Yes It Is To Record The Air Temp. He Probs Just Whipped It Out To Get A Better Pic Of It. The Car Wudnt Run Properly Without Is And He Has Fitted It As I Have His Standard Throttlebody!

Hi Spencer.
Is there some way for me to have this job done, without missing a TB for a long time? I'm in Denmark you see, so there will be some shipping time... Would you ship me a TB you've made, and i will ship you my old one afterwards when i have changed? Ofcourse i would allow a higher price - both giving there is some shipping cost involved, and the fact that you would be missing a TB for a week or to! But you don't have to worry about me not shipping you a TB again - You can have a copy of my passport or something if that makes you more comfortable!
You can PM or email me... larslaursen@besked.com

Oh and btw i have just done a rolling road on a Optima 2000 on my 16v with Cup intake kit and Supersprint magnum backbox, and it did 124hp flywheel and 150nm torque.
It's at my school they have a rolling road, and i'm allowed to use it all i want. So if you're prepared to see what your P&P can do on paper, i can do a test after mounting the TB. I am not far from ordering a set of 708's to...
I will supply the different data on the measurement (air temp, pressure etc.)!

did u check the idel control valve seal like i said as if its not sealing right the car will idle at 1500-2000 revs, also check that the butterfly is turning right back to the closed position by looking at it as u turn the end peice
