Power will vary on how much money your willing to put into it, if it's a daily drive or not etc..

whos look for a turbod vtR

carworx and gmc are the people to speak to

id say around 3k + for parts and fitting thats just the basicish kit

cant think of anyone off the top of my head on here who has a turbod vtr

theres a few with vts turbos though

kennedy
18th March 2007, 18:16
was actually thinking of stripping my car and using the turbo and dump valve of that then it would mean i just have to get the manifold intercooler and pipe work done so could work out cheaper

kennedy
18th March 2007, 19:27

you need to know the specs of the turbo, what are the trim sizes, to be honest it would probably be better selling that to a civic owner and starting again on the saxo, it can be done DIY but turboing a saxo is not cheap, ive not done it to a saxo but to its better looking brother (with a vtr lump ;) )

the turbo on the civic is a GReddy t19 turbo and yeah the civic is really nice but i bought it like that so dosent feel like mine if you know what i mean and i have also been a big fan of saxos and i want to turbo one because there aint that many of them about were is now there is loads of turbo'd civic and stuff

Mark51

loads of places do them mate, just depends on what you want.

i would stay clear of the likes of cituning and the like who offer cheaper kits (these kits are just low boost items and are not the best.

the likes of carworx and gmc in the uk, or dp engineering in the netherlands are the guys to speak to.

but running a turbo car costs quite abit. you will be looking at 4 -5k for all the kit, then fitting, then setup which is vital and needs to be done by a pro.
then you will need bigger brakes, much better clutch, suspension, forged pistons if your running higher boost, standalone ecu for better setup of management. the list goes on lol turbo manifold is the expensive part of the kit.
turbo saxos eat the gearboxes and drive shafts, just ask the founder of this site SIMO, hes been running his saxo vts turbo for years and has had a few probs, he will be the man to chat too ;)

you can also supercharge the saxo, which has a similar effect to a turbo, some will argue one is better than the other but you will have to make your mind up and research into it. supercharger kits are easier to fit and are a tad cheaper, not much tho lol

defo worth doing in my opinion ;)

a turbo manifold for a t25- t28 will cost around £500+ for a stainless version. these are bespoke/one off made to order.
a intercooler and radiator from gmc are around 350 each, you can just run the intercooler from gmc and use a bigger saxo/106 diesel radiator (cheap new from euro car parts) but you will also need to run the header tank from the diesel car, this will mean you have to relocate the ecu position where it is now so you can fit the header tank there, but it defo worth doing as it lowers the cooling right down ;)

you will also need the boost pipes from gmc along with an extra injector holder with extra injectors and an mf2 unit, ,which controls the injectors when the turbos on boost and a 2 bar map sensor. you will also need an air fuel ratio meter to ensure that the car is not running to lean/rich etc. 2 mutli steel layered gaskets to lower the compression or a set of forged pistons, a oil cooler(must have), bigger brakes(must have) and an uprated clutch(must have) lol.
i am sure i have missed a few bits and bobs off the list.

gmc motorsport in scotland supply all of these parts off the shelf as seperate parts. but the cost will soon add up lol

i would recommend a turbo off a twin turbo skyline r33, think they are a water cooled t25 or t28, they spool up really fast on the saxo and are ideal as they dont suffer too much lag, think they come on boost at around 2k ;)
