Posting for a mate really as he dont have the internet and i dont have a clue on this sort of thing.
But he was thinking of putting gsxr600 throttle bodies on a vtr. His got a few mods as it is. Not sure on figure but its pushing over 130bhp as it is now.
He was wondering what kind of gains he would get in terms of bhp.
p.s before anyone says it he isnt interested in a vts engine swop lol. Trust me ive told him. He likes the 8v.

To get 130bhp from a vtr you will need full exhaust, manifold, head work, cams and remap.
TB's might give another 15-20bhp if set up properly
On a vts full exhaust, manifold, head work, cams and remap would give around 150-160bhp and with TB's they can get slightly over 200bhp MAX(most people get around 180-190bhp) but dont expect it to pass mot easy

ahh i thought it would be somthing like that but its worth asking the question, what can you do if you were having a problem with the emmisions for mots,

if your having problems use some injector cleaner and take the car for a good run

there would be a fair bit of setting up involved but i rekon if you set em up right and with a good remap you could get around -20+ bhp out of em

you would need a standaloe ecu not just a remap, plus custom inlet manifold made up. speak to hiflow heads as i know they do that. what has he had done to have 130hp?

same question what has he had done? also wouldnt be worth money sticking bodies. cheaper to supercharge it for the power

ported and polished head,
rollers have been removed from the head and converted to competition spec kent followers,
kent 285 cam,
kent double valve springs,
kent vernier pulley,
ported 106 rallye inlet manifold,
4-2-1 manifold.
bmc cda enclosed air filter
Full stainless steel exhaust (not sure what his got)
Running on standalone management.
Think he said his got the inlet. Just after the throttle bodies.
Whats needed and what rough cost is involved with setting up supercharger? Cheaper than a turbo?

turbo, supercharger similar price. knew they cost around 5 fitted, but prob could source parts for just over a couple then need the fitting and mapping. id supercharge over a turbo aswell.
seeing as he has standolone already he could put bodies on, ideally proper ones not the bike sort(have a look at qep, gmc) and forged pistons etc but bodies are more suited to 16v as you can rev the tits off them. just got to weight it up cause buying and fitting just bodies and mapping is gonna be over a grand for not a great deal more power.
bodies if he wants to track it, charger for straight lines
