why wouldnt my vts start this morning???

it took about a minute for it to start this morning and again when i got petrol this morning but admittedly the engine was still cold. the car just wasnt catching on for ages then it start all of a sudden. it was fine when i went home in it 2 hours later though. i dont see why it happened because its been fine every other morning so far whether it be icey or warmer. my car is a 97 vts with 96k on the clocks. could it be spark plugs or coil pack??

Its got a high mileage and its not a young car so its probably down to it just needing a good service.

have a check over the plugs, and stick a full tank off petrol in and put some engine cleaner in. Check the battery voltage.

My old astra did my nut in for ages struggling to start, didnt sound like the batt was dead... got a new one and it starts perfect!!!!!!!

ive only had it 2 weeks, ive changed the oil, changed the coolant. am gonna do plugs tommorow and fuel filter next week. might have to get a battery aswell while im at it. thanx for all the help people

A mate of mine had the same probs. He spent like £200 on replacing parts. Once the engine was a litle warmer it was ok. Only had the problem when it was really cold or first thing in the morning. Turned out it was a fuel pump sensor that was playing up.

I wouldn't bother changing the battery to be honest. If it still started it after all that trying it's going to be fine.

yeah battery should be good change wats been said and should be good, maybe do the cambelt while your at it and the oil filter
