I just got a "full" powerflow stainless steel system on my MK2 VTR and it appears that where the centre section joins the cat downpipe it is still the rusty mild steel!

it looks like they have just cut my center section down to about 8" and welded the new tubing on!

surely a full system should be from cat back!!

is there anything i can do about this, as if that part of the exhaust rusts i am up the S**t creek without a paddle because you cant get a 8" section of that can you!!

help!

Just go back and tell them your not happy, powerflow specialists are usually happy to help you out.

Tell them you want it doing properly and up to the manifold as thats what you asked for. Just dont be out of line with them!

at the end of the standard section mate around the last few inches it normally has a silencer box on if thats gone then they have replaced it

Yep but they have left a bit of the old cetre section on the very end of the cat downpipe.

as the two bits of pipe welded are different widths and different colours!

i think ill go back to them when i have a day off next week and see what they say.

thats so they can take the ca out in future if need be!

surely that is not the case as the cat is in the manifold and then the downpipe! and the join between the downpipe and centre section (which is done with those spring bolt things)

and then after this join about 8" down they have welded on the stainless section!

the cat is part of the down pipe

welding mild steel to stainless isnt good as they can react with each other. i would complain about it if they have done that. is there a weld there?

whats confused me is that they have welded it and not joined it using clamps

yep a definate weld there it looks like a right bodge and it cost £310 which is more that a proper cat back!

i will keep it if they sort it but i don't think they gona be happy to sort it out!

and if i say i dont want it because they are cowboys i cant exactly drive with no exhaust for a couple of days!

sounds like most of the powerflow systems i have seen, usually use a lesser grade of stainless for the pipes and proper t304 for the boxes

Ive seen a few powerflow systems and ive been pretty impressed with them but it sounds like theyve got a bad rep :o

A c2 with a centre exit system & an astra GSi with two small pipes coming out of the left side infront of the rear wheel... looked so good!!!

I was thinking about a powerflow system but i think ill go for magnex

thats a disgrace. no other wat to put it. powerflow are crap its as simple as that. they also crush bend all the bends... shite. my first ever zaUst was from them 400 quid for a de cat system what a rip off and they used all my original flanges welded onto stainless steel which rusted after about a year, must of been poor quality. AAS in newcastle make amazing systems anything u want any bore u want total mint quality i have used them 4 times and never ever been dissapointed and never had a problem with any of ther systems

Renwick off here works at AAS :y:

Thats aweful mate, i would take it straight back and complain! want discount and it doing properly. Is it meant to be a stainless cat-back system? so tell them thats not what they have done.
Did you not get the choice to keep your old zorst? should have said yes so they cant do that.

Gutted for you mate
