LMAO,
enclosed filter such as BMC or Green Enclosed or Pipercross Viper - £80-£200
stainless steel manifold (de-cated) £280ish -GMC
stainless steel exhaust - £170 second hand, £200-£300 brand new
cams - £300-£400 ish i think

drop in a VTS engine then tune that..
There is no shortcut though .. if you want a higher performance engine then it is going to cost hundreds of pounds.
What you could do is strip out the interior completely then attack anything non-structural with a hole cutter. That'd improve power to weight significantly. Polycarb windows instead of the glass too.
But if this is just to beat a twat who drives to close you are best of driving slower. That'd upset him more that beating him in a drag race

Noob question, but whats it mean when people (as above) say "Tune that"
Is that actual engine tuning? or a short name for mods like air filters and exhausts?

Encompasses anything that you can do to the engine to make it go faster.
You can look at the induction side, TBs airfilters etc, Exhaust side, manifold and de-cat, SS system or the internals - cams, headwork, lightened flywheel etc etc.
Nothing really should be considered in isolation, its best to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve from the engine and then work out the most cost effective way of doing it.
