the xantia 1.6 was the 90bhp 8v lump. no idea about fitting mate

yes its possible. The 1.8 16v is about the same weight as the VTS engine but the gearbox will be a little heavier. Its not going to just drop in so will need a lot of custom work done

it'd be cheaper and easier to fit a 1.6 16 VTS lump and cam it...

custom mounts and custom driveshafts aint going to be cheap.

if you gotta make custom engine mounts and custom driveshafts, you may aswell try to squeeze a red top turbo lump in there?

first time ive meantioned them being put into a Saxo.

well if you can make custom mounts then you are half the way there. Custom driveshafts are not needed. You can cut/sheath and weld a standard driveshaft or combine a xantia driveshaft with a saxo one so you can use the saxo hubs and brakes. Next issue will be the exhaust system, is there the room at the back of the enginebay - nothing a bit of cutting and welding to the bulkhead can't solve.

Thats just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are plenty of other challenges to sort along the way. Just dont think about fitting a 6 speed box

a gti-6 engine has been fitted to a 106 so the principle is the same.the 1.8 is an alloy block so better than the 2.0 as thats iron.

Ah I see, I only meantioned it because it seemed like a pricey job,
and custom stuff will need to be made.

I mean a 2 litre N/A Saxo is gonna be a hard bitta work to make it go round bends because of the weight surely?

so I guess why not just go all out drag styleee and have a red top turbo? :P

If your looking to do that much work why would you want a non performance engine?

Why not look to something slightly more high reving like a Honda VTEC or something with a turbocharger already fitted as standard.

Just seems alot of work for an engine thats not really that special.

Just IMO

the 1.8 can take a gti-6 head and cams. Lightweight and 160ish bhp using standard parts. Its also cheap to do compared to a turbo or more expensive honda engine.

personally I would go for an alloy xu engine as these are roughly the same weight as the tu iron blocks, hense why i mentioned the 1.8. By using the xu engines you can use the Be series of gearboxes that are able to cope with big power too

A gti-6 engine and box sounds like a nice mod on a saxo to me:y:

Bigger engine are fine if you just want to Blast up a strip but the bigger engine will spoil the brilliant handling of the car like a baby spoils a 16yr old

KamRacing

if you want to be different then there are loads better engines out there for the money.

I'd steer clear of pug engines and look at some other small compact blocks made by other manufacturers.

Still want someone whos willing to pay us to fit a duratec in the front. the 2litre standard but fitted with TBs gets approx 210-220bhp..
