Has anybody fitted these cams 2 a vts before? I was putting my engine back together earlier & put it in car, then put cams on but wen i turn it over the cam lobes hit the head!!
Are they the wrong cams or what???

no they are the right cams you just havent done the work to get them to fit and work correctly.
i.e. pocketed pistons by the sounds of it and if im thinking of the correct cams

I have got pocketed high comp forged pistons. Its the actual cam lobe hitting the actual head. The valves and pistons would turn over ok

As scot said. You will need to pocket pistons or fit bigger head gasget. Try some plastercine on to of piston with head bolts out. Turn over by hand and then measure mark in plastercine to find out clearance between poson and valve.

he is on abaout the cam lobe hitting the cylinder head not the valves hitting the pistons.
i never heard of that happening before coz the lift on the cams must be huge for it to do that, have u got any pics? and what point of the lobe is hitting?? i presume the top and its the hiest point, also how much is it hitting it by e.g looks 1mm to big etc..

SAXBP300 without the M???
Also on some other websites the part number is SAX16BP300-BL

have you put them in the right way? if the exhuast cam is in inlet it wont turn over, and vice versa. i think the bearing surfaces are different diameters.

they are marked on the end of the cams, what do u mean the bearing diameter?

the part of teh cam that acts as a bearing, what teh cam ladder clamps araouund. just checking you had them in correct otherwise they wont turn. i have read that some cam need part of the head machining but cant remeber what car or even if it was a vts engine. try contacting piper. how much lift do they have?

the valve lift is 11.44 and 11.39, cant remember which way round they are.
i will ring piper in the morning & see what they say. A few people have said i have recieved the wrong cam, i really hope so. Cant be doing with taking the head back off, and dont really want smaller cams.
I will let you know how i get on after work 2moz!
