Id always pay the extra and go for a OE item from a main dealer.
Not too sure about pattern parts or aftermarket parts when it comes to my head. Im sure the pattern should be the same for both Phase1 and Phase2 VTS's.
As long as you have your chassis number aint got a problem :y:

What does OE mean? How much does it cost roughly for the head to be skimmed?

OE means "original equipment" parts as in citroen, to have ur head skimmed it costs between £20-£50 depending where u go and what the prices are like in your area

if your on about this one : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-106-206-GTI-CITROEN-SAXO-VTS-HEAD-GASKET-SET_W0QQitemZ320110750892QQihZ011QQcategoryZ10406Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
then i had one and it lasted 5,00 miles before it went, so i fitted a £90 fia one second time round and been fine ever since, also had a mate with a 106 GTI who used same kit and also failed on him

lol, i wondered why i paid more for the inlet manifold seals than that whole kit costs :P
lol, i would either get an OE one from citroen or get an aftermarket uprated head gasket.
If your head gasket blew the last time. I would get the head skimmed, you would only be looking at having a few thou taken off (0.001") to make sure it was flat, any decent machine shop could do it for you or a mechanic could point you in the right direction. would be best to get it pressure tested to to make sure its sound.
im sure i had the rs turbo head skimmed and pressure tested by a place next to mine for £60 ;)
maybe get yourself an upraded set of head bolts too ;)
always buy either OE parts or well know uprated items when doing the head gasket etc, you pay shit money, you get shit parts ;) may save a few quid now, but you will need to go through it all again in a few months when it fails lol
