dan-iow
3rd May 2007, 19:54
i want fast road in my 106 gti, what would you guys recommend?? only have minor engine mods at the mo, exhaust, de cat and induction.
will i need a re map or a chip fitting after?? not to sure on it all really and would appreciate some advice!!
bullit
3rd May 2007, 19:57
as above mate. you will need maniflod first, then remap. chips are poo
dan-iow
3rd May 2007, 19:59
as above mate. you will need maniflod first, then remap. chips are poo
right so if i fit a stainless manifold, then cams. then i can take it to be re mapped to those mods??
do i need lifters or anything other than cams?? and were is good to take it for a re map?? (far south as poss!!)
cheers mate
bullit
3rd May 2007, 20:07
yeah to those mods. just cams mate and cam belt "depends how much you wanna spend tbh", maybe fuel pressure regulator
chipwizards is the place to go, everyone drives miles to go there
Hi Dan. I think Chipwizards is the only place that re-map stock ECUs on the VTS/106, and they are up Leeds way... Here's what you should do I reckon. Contact a place called totalmotorsportsolutions.co.uk. you can buy the cams and manifold off of them, and then they will take your car to Chipwizards, where it will get re-mapped. I think for Catcam 708s, Supersprint manifold, plus installation labour and re-map, (Chipwizards charge them from the total bill) it will set you back around £1300 after VAT. ...So you just give the car to TMS and they do everything for you...
dan-iow
3rd May 2007, 20:11
thats excellent guys, thanks!! what sort of bhp figures can i expect with those mods and the full janspeed exhaust and bmc induction i already have??
bullit
3rd May 2007, 20:11
doesnt seem to bad that. i didnt know tms did that
bullit
3rd May 2007, 20:14

dan-iow
3rd May 2007, 20:16

3rd May 2007, 20:19
catcams 708s are the popular ones at the mo, followed by the newmans cams. theres just been a group buy but noone fitted them yet so dont know exactly how they will do, although ive seen other figues but prefer to see them from guys you know. both above cams are really well priced aswell.
theres also a catcam group buy started
Yup... Dan, give TMS a bell. They use Catcams, and will advise upon 708s for your application.
Yeah Bullit - I took my car to TMS and left it with them for a few days... I live down south, so it was a long'ish journey, so was happy to do it that way. They took care of everthing for me.

ill post me results up next friday when i get back, a big valve head is also getting fitted but it should give yas a idea what there like
FSC have a group buy for cat cams 708s ;)
get your name down bud.
as already stated, i would only get cams after if had a decent enclosed filter, manifold, full system.
fit cams, lifters etc,new timing belt and maybe a 4.5bar fpr from gmc. then have it all re-mapped at chipwizards ;) should be 145 - 160 bhp depending on the condition of the engine etc.

:bump: this old mo fo
was on newmans site said the ph3's cant run on standard injection wtf that all about?
where did the group buy get the last lot as they were fucking cheap as chips to get.......... no way i would pay £300.
ph1's take are pointless just go for ph3s?
jeeves_101
6th November 2007, 11:54
it means you can have a remap and all is ok.
then if you want the ph4's or 5's, you need standalone with tb's or similar.
Toad
6th November 2007, 12:03
708s have had better results. I would go with them.
Steve

so its saying ph1's basically dont need re-map.
was just curious to wtf they were on about.
Wonder if they would do another group buy :homme:

why would you want to do that mate?????
decent intake, BMC with decent air feed or panel filter in standard box with the resinator box off or a proper green simota i dont like the raceland intakes :homme:
Steve
6th November 2007, 15:13
also thought he wasnt going to charge full price for the re-map?? Cos he couldnt get the timing to stay the same, 1st is to get a decent manifold though mate.........
raceland shit imo would only have one if got it for like £50 or sumit plus not see full effect of that btb still suprised its me its got an increase thought it was based more towards a turbo'd saxo
would have thought a supersprint system would have been better
infact get 708's al buy your ph3's
belly_VTS
6th November 2007, 15:18
ill get meself a gmc stainless steel 4-1, maybe a better intake . . . .see what the results are. its like redoin the whole thing again lol. if its still shit ill wipe out the newmans
id get a bmc stevey, its just finding a decent place to put the intake pipe.

that was just me taking it easy lol it really was haha, normally my lass tells me off for going ever so slightly fast, and holds the seat haha
40mm ftw wel 35 imo but if want it too look slightly better then 40mm i would never go lower. mine seems to handle better 30 - 35mm than it did 40mm seems to be more grip....... rear drifts a bit but drivers side slightly higher at rear still to be re done.
i was going to stick with standard intake and take all shitty piping off but sourced a nearly new bmc at a good price, if its shit al just sell it, and then just have cold air feed to bottom of filter box with green filter :y:

leeroybrown

Vsport are sellinh BMC for £80 quid
Am sure a few years back i read in a magazine a modied air box was the best to have
Still think a ram air box is good, Pro Comp was the best to have
I had a bigger version to the raceland one with the green cotton filter as the standard raceland one is poo , which i do highly rate for the price
belly_VTS
6th November 2007, 15:34
